Jessica, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe that collaboration and great service experiences are two of many components that have helped Gifts by Jessy thrive! For more than five years, we have been creating hand crafted gift baskets. It started off as a hobby and has now blossomed into an amazing business. While I enjoy curating gifts, I quickly learned that I cannot handle everything alone, which lead me to collaborate with other small businesses. Customer favorites like homemade soaps and personalized cutting boards are a result of such collaborations.
Our goal is to create a simple shopping experience with a personalized touch. Offering customized gift options allows us an opportunity to learn more about our customer needs and ensure customer satisfaction. Whether it’s a sports team or mermaid theme, Gifts by Jessy has it covered! The feedback so far has been amazing. Over the years, I’ve learned how to capture those “bright eye and huge smile” moments.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Jessy and I created an online gift shop for “gifters” to find handmade items with a personalized option with products you know and trust. My journey began more than five years ago while working at a residential apartment community. Our goal was to provide a memorable experience by giving a quality gift basket full of essentials to save new residents the hassle of tumbling through dozens of boxes for necessities. Although there are several gift items on the market, I discovered it was difficult to find something that offered exactly what we wanted without a “cheap look” and didn’t break the bank. Our customers were not only surprised and enjoyed the products, but it kicked off a positive experience by providing that extra Zest, which is now called “Jessy’s Style”!
With nationwide shipping and local deliveries, Gifts by Jessy has become the “go-to” gift shop for Real Estate firms, hotels along with other businesses and individuals.
My family would describe me as creative, kindhearted, vivacious, and passionate. I am a humanitarian. In addition, I am a daughter, sister, cousin, friend, and proud “Auntie” of five amazing kids.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I receive most of my new clients from current customers.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I remember when I first started Gifts by Jessy, I wanted to offer gift baskets only. After more research and linking with others in the industry, I discovered that offering more products would extend my customer base. Even though I was on the fence, I made the decision to offer other products like tumblers, mugs, personalized gift bags and other gift items. That was one of the best decisions for my business.
