Hi Jessica Isabel , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
Both my parents are from Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. They fell in love at the beaches of Miramar. The story begins there. The passion that came from their love and dream for a better life stuck with me. My dads side of his family owned a business selling food made from home and my mother was in a band growing up. She spent her time performing for events. After moving from Mexico to the United States the dream for a better life became more clear that it was not going to be easy for my parents when they both did not speak English. This did not stop them. I was amazed at how optimistic my father was to get out and find work. Both my mom and dad knew what they wanted and that helped me find a clear path for my own career. My parents would support my love of arts and design by buying me the best design books and stencils. I had so much fun using my imagination as a little kid and now I use my imagination to create new art pieces and designs for my business J3ssicuhsart. My parents showed me what hustling was at an early age. They left everything behind in hopes of a better life for me and my siblings. I live my life today with so much passion and love for my work. I do everything in honor of my parents. Everything that I create is all with love and dedication. My parents taught me best.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a creative artist who designs and illustrates for upcoming businesses. I dedicate my free time to making my own artwork and selling at art shows. I have been dedicated to doing this for 4 years now. I have helped companies like Real Health Medical, MTZ Landscaping and many more. I can paint and draw on anything you want. My favorite thing to use is color. I love being detailed with my work and providing the best unique designs. I sell keychains and holographic stickers of some of my favorite colored pencil drawings I have made over the years. My best seller is my first drawing that I turned into a sticker “The blue butterfly”. I like to use freedom of expression in many of my pieces and going above and beyond with the color details when given a project.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for my business has been marketing with stickers. I have placed many of my favorite holographic designs in various locations in Atlanta, Tennessee and Miami. These stickers include a QR code that directs viewers to my website where you can read more about me and buy from my store. There is easy access at the bottom of my website to contact me for future projects.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
The initial capital to my business was small. I already owned a printer at home so I began with buying photo paper and printing my first prints with my small printer at the time. The income made from the prints I sold started the keychain production. Little by little the funding became bigger and I began to buy in bigger bulk. I am now in a place to begin my clothing production with J3ssicuhsart designs.
