One of the most heart-warming moments in my career happened when a client, facing the daunting challenge of cancer, contacted my studio. Despite her diagnosis, she held on to the glimmer of hope: the desire for beautiful brows before starting treatment. My technique is ultra-realistic and most importantly natural, so I knew this would help her to feel confident and empowered. After receiving approval from her doctor, I had her come in for a consultation, gave her a shape unique to her features, and did the Microblading service.

The tears of joy once she saw her reflection were a testament to the profound impact of my work. She followed up after her healing and left me an amazing Google review. Months later, she’s kept me updated on her progress and how her brows make her feel beautiful every day- effortlessly. Even on her worst days. Her newfound brows weren’t just pigment, they were a symbol of resilience, reminding us all that beauty can arise from adversity and it’s why I love what I do.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

My passion for beauty and self-care has always been a guiding force throughout my life. Growing up on welfare with teenage parents, I’ve always had a burning desire to carve out a different path for myself, one filled with hard work and determination. And that drive led me into the world of permanent makeup and establishing Blade and Brow Beauty Bar.

My journey into this industry started unexpectedly when I stumbled upon microblading back in 2017. At a time when I was struggling with 90’s thin eyebrows and feeling insecure about my oily skin and penciled brows, experiencing the transformative power of microblading sparked something within me. It reignited my passion for beauty and inspired me to pursue a career in permanent makeup, which I had abandoned back in 2011 due to financial reasons. (estheticians were not making what they are now)! Fast forward to today, and this choice has become one that is so precious to me.

What sets me apart is the hours spent perfecting my craft and the skill of ultra-realistic work that enhances rather than overpowers. I specialize in transformative treatments like nano brows and lip blush, utilizing cutting-edge techniques to create long-lasting results. But beyond just offering services, I strive to create an experience that leaves a lasting impact on my client’s lives. Whether it’s helping a cancer patient regain their confidence with permanent brows or simply giving a busy professional the convenience of waking up with flawless makeup- that looks ultra-natural and put together, I’m dedicated to making a positive difference.

What I’m proud of is my dedication to excellence and ensuring client satisfaction. I understand the power of self-belief and diligence. Beginning this venture as a part-time endeavor with just $200 and no clients, I managed to transition away from a job in Real Estate that I loathed within six months to focus on my business entirely. Within a year, I was earning a six-figure income, even amidst the challenges of the pandemic. 5 years later, I’ve built a community of genuine connection and self-love.

Ultimately, I want others to know that this business was founded on a love for helping others and isn’t just a place to get your permanent makeup done- it’s a sanctuary where you can embrace your beauty, inside and out.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

Referrals. I like to joke with my clients that they are my walking billboards. Almost every single one of my clients has referred a friend or family member to me.

It’s satisfying when your clients appreciate the outcomes, especially when those around them take notice.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.

My side hustle turned into my full-time business after six months of hard work and determination.

2017 was one of the worst years for me professionally and personally and I was a struggling Real Estate Agent who felt unfulfilled and unmotivated. As I struggled to make ends meet, I found myself working as a front desk agent at an architect firm through a temp agency, barely keeping my head above water. I needed passion.

Amidst the chaos of my professional life, there was a flickr of inspiration that ignited a new path. It all started with a simple decision to explore microblading after experiencing hair loss myself. Little did I know that this seemingly small choice would set the course for my future and unlock a world of peace and success in my life. Determined to turn my passion into a thriving business, I applied for my license and signed a year lease with a salon suite in my area- with zero clients.

I knew I had to pour my heart and soul into growing my business if I wanted it to work. For six months, I hustled relentlessly, passing out business cards, leveraging social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, and even experimenting with Groupon (which I soon realized was a terrible idea). Despite the setbacks and challenges, I refused to give up.

Finally, after months of hard work and perseverance, I reached a turning point. The demand for my services began to grow, and I made the bold decision to pursue permanent makeup full-time while continuing to work part-time in real estate to cover my expenses. It was a leap of faith, but one I knew was necessary to chase my dreams and carve out a life of passion and purpose. By 2020, amid the pandemic- I scaled my business to six figures and was booked out months at a time. By year 4, I had won Best Permanent Makeup Clinic in San Antonio.

Looking back on those days, I’m grateful for the struggles and obstacles that paved the way for my success. They taught me resilience, determination, and the importance of staying true to my vision. Today, as I reflect on how far I’ve come, I’m proud to say that I’ve built a thriving business doing what I love, and I’m excited to continue growing and inspiring others along the way.
