We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jessica Huffman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, let’s start with a hypothetical – what would you change about the educational system?
I would literally change absolutely everything. I would have parents far more involved from start to finish. I would have God very present in the classroom because I do believe that’s what this country was founded on in the first place. I would make sure children learned life skills, such as cooking, paying bills, doing your taxes, growing food, tending to livestock. I would make sure they knew how to do Simple tasks like laundry. I would stress learning a skill or a trade versus going off to college and spending tons of money/going into debt and then repaying it For years upon years, all while being a slave to corporate America from your little cubicle. I would stress the importance of having an awesome work ethic, because the only person who’s going to support you is you. I would encourage women to get pregnant younger so that they can have healthier babies. I would teach how to build natural immunity and not be reliant on pharmaceuticals .
…Ask me how I really feel? Lol

Jessica , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a jack of many trades. The only job I’ve never had is probably an office job. I’m more of a blue color worker and I prefer it that way. I do not know how to use Excel or make copies and things of that nature, but I can provide juice for an entire city with my cold press.
Nourish Juice Bar was probably my first publicly known business however I had different ones prior to that just weren’t Brick and mortar style. I’d say one That people don’t know is that I I dabble in commodities. I buy and sell Everything from produce, jet, fuel, diesel, natural gas, gold, sugar, etc.. I really enjoy the hustle in that industry. I also am a female In the industry, which is pretty Uncommon as well. I recently had a man asked me to get off a zoom call in the Dubai because I was a female. I own the company 100% be so that was a little bit awkward. I feel like there’s always some sort of challenge I have to overcome. With Nourish, it was pivoting constantly, especially during Covid in the years after. We survived by the skin of our teeth, literally. We had to be able to adapt and make changes constantly, or it just wasn’t going to work with all the rules and regulations the city was putting on us. With my other, knowing how to deal with all of the sharks is definitely a requirement. It’s pretty gritty

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Well, my daughter died suddenly, with no advance notice about a year and a half ago. I remember one month into that tragic journey, I looked in the mirror and asked myself who I was going to become after such a monumental loss. It propelled me to go absolutely balls to the wall, it’s really easy to want to quit everything from work to life in general when faced with a loss like that. I think my resilience can 100% be contributed to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If it wasn’t for him, I would not have made it. Especially when I didn’t want to.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Definitely my authenticity. If you’ve ever met me, you know, I tell it like it is, 100% of the time. You can trust what I say because I’m gonna shoot you straight. People like that, especially when it comes to their health and wellness or buying from you or selling to you. Transparency is everything
