We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jessica Howard a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The Story Behind My Mission
As a serial entrepreneur, author, and hairstylist, my mission is to empower others whether through business, storytelling, or personal transformation. I believe that everyone has a vision and a purpose, but many don’t know how to bring it to life. That’s where I come in.
My journey started in the beauty industry, where I saw firsthand how confidence and self-expression can transform a person. That same passion for transformation carried over into my work as an author and business mentor. Through Revive Branding Agency, I help aspiring authors and entrepreneurs turn their dreams into reality by giving them the tools to self-publish their books and build sustainable businesses.
This mission is deeply personal to me. I’ve had to navigate challenges, from balancing multiple businesses to overcoming personal hardships, including the loss of my mother. Her strength and resilience inspire me daily to create opportunities for others, especially young women who want to step into entrepreneurship. That’s why I plan to launch a nonprofit in her honor to help young girls grow in business.
For me, success isn’t just about building businesses, it’s about helping others create legacies. Whether I’m styling someone’s hair, coaching an entrepreneur, or helping an author bring their story to life, I am committed to reviving dreams, building confidence, and making an impact that lasts beyond me.
Jessica , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Meet Jessica Howard: A Multi-Passionate Entrepreneur Empowering Others
I am Jessica Howard—a serial entrepreneur, author, hairstylist, and independent publishing consultant—dedicated to helping people bring their visions to life. I have built my career on creativity, empowerment, and resilience, and my work spans multiple industries, from beauty to publishing to business coaching.
My Journey into Entrepreneurship
I started in the beauty industry as a hairstylist, drawn to the power of transformation- not just in appearance, but in confidence and self-expression. I own a salon in Pikesville with my sister, where we provide high-quality beauty services that help clients feel their best.
But my passion didn’t stop there. As a natural visionary and storyteller, I entered the world of writing and publishing. I authored my first prayer journal, which led me to discover how many aspiring authors struggled to navigate the self-publishing process. Seeing the need for guidance, I founded Revive Branding Agency, where I help entrepreneurs and writers turn their ideas into professionally published books and thriving brands.
What I Offer
Through my various businesses, I provide:
✅ Hairstyling & Beauty Services – Helping clients feel beautiful and confident.
✅ Self-Publishing Services – Assisting aspiring authors with editing, formatting, and publishing their books.
✅ Business Branding & Coaching – Guiding entrepreneurs through branding, marketing, and business development.
✅ Workshops & Speaking Engagements – Hosting events to educate and empower others in business and publishing.
What Sets Me Apart
What makes my brand unique is that I don’t just offer services—I build legacies. Whether it’s through hair, books, or business coaching, I focus on revival and transformation. My personal journey—overcoming challenges, balancing multiple businesses, and pushing through adversity—has given me the insight and passion to genuinely help others succeed.
I’m also working on a nonprofit in honor of my late mother, focused on helping young girls become successful entrepreneurs. Her strength and influence shaped me into the woman I am today, and I want to pass that legacy on to future generations.
What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m proud of the lives I’ve touched—whether it’s an author finally seeing their book published, a business owner gaining clarity on their brand, or a client walking out of the salon with newfound confidence. I take pride in creating opportunities for others to succeed and making sure they have the tools to turn their dreams into reality.
What I Want People to Know
If you’re an aspiring author, entrepreneur, or someone looking for transformation, I’m here to help. My mission is to revive your vision, guide you through the process, and make sure you don’t have to figure it all out alone. Whether it’s through beauty, books, or business, I’m committed to helping others build something meaningful and lasting.
Let’s create something powerful together!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One of the most defining moments in my journey was the loss of my mother. She was my biggest supporter, my source of wisdom, and a constant reminder of the strength and perseverance that runs through me. Losing her was devastating, and for a while, I struggled with grief, questioning how I could move forward while carrying such a heavy loss.
But instead of letting it break me, I chose to let it fuel me. My mother was a woman who believed in pushing through adversity and creating opportunities even when the odds weren’t in her favor. Her strength reminded me that I had a purpose to fulfill—not just for myself, but for the people I was meant to help.
During that time, I threw myself into my work, not as a distraction but as a way to honor her legacy. I expanded my efforts in helping aspiring authors publish their stories, launched new business ventures, and even began laying the groundwork for a nonprofit in her name to help young girls build their futures in business. I turned my pain into purpose, and that resilience has become the foundation of everything I do.
This journey hasn’t been easy. From balancing multiple businesses to facing health challenges and personal setbacks, there have been moments when giving up seemed like an option. But every time I think about the people who are counting on me—my son, my clients, the young entrepreneurs I want to inspire—I remind myself that resilience isn’t just about surviving, it’s about thriving despite the obstacles.
My story is proof that pain can be transformed into something powerful. That’s why I do what I do—to help others find strength in their own stories and push forward, no matter what they face.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots in my life came in 2018 when I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). At the time, I was fully immersed in my career as a hairstylist, building my business and serving my clients. But when I received the diagnosis, everything changed. I had to face the reality that my body wouldn’t always move the way I wanted it to. The long hours on my feet, the physical demands of my work—things I had taken for granted—suddenly felt uncertain.
At first, I struggled with what this meant for my future. Would I be able to continue doing hair? Would I have to give up everything I had worked so hard for? The unknown was terrifying, but I refused to let it define me. Instead of seeing it as a roadblock, I looked for new ways to grow and create impact.
That’s when I started shifting my focus beyond hairstyling and diving deeper into entrepreneurship. I expanded my business to include branding and coaching, giving other entrepreneurs the tools they need to succeed.
This pivot wasn’t just about adapting to my health—it was about embracing my purpose on a larger scale. While MS may have slowed me down physically at times, it pushed me to think bigger, to create more, and to make an impact beyond just one industry.
Now, I see my journey as proof that challenges don’t have to end your dreams—they can redirect you to something even greater. If I hadn’t been diagnosed with MS, I might not have explored my passion for writing and helping others publish their own books. I wouldn’t have built a business that allows me to empower people beyond just one service.
This pivot taught me that true success isn’t just about what you do—it’s about how you adapt, how you push forward, and how you use your experiences to help others. And that’s exactly what I’m committed to doing every day.
