Jessica Halley, DDS , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
At our medical spa, we pride ourselves on taking a holistic and collaborative approach that intentionally diverges from the typical industry standard. While the aesthetics industry can sometimes be associated with overfilled features and unrealistic results, we’ve made it our mission to offer something different — something more grounded, more intentional, and more you.
Our philosophy centers on enhancing the natural beauty our patients already have. We believe that confidence doesn’t come from looking like someone else — it comes from looking like the best version of yourself. Our expert providers customize treatment plans that are effective and goal-oriented, but always with a commitment to maintaining balance and authenticity. We steer away from trends that promote extreme or artificial results, and instead focus on subtle, restorative outcomes that align with our patients’ individual goals.
What truly sets us apart, though, is the collaborative care model we’ve built. Our providers work hand-in-hand to support our patients not just externally, but internally as well. It’s not uncommon for a patient to walk through our doors and have appointments with multiple providers in one day — starting with a relaxing facial or medical-grade skincare, followed by injectables or lasers, and wrapping up with hormone support or weight loss treatments. These moments are when we know we’re truly living our mission: to treat the whole person, not just the surface.
Our industry can often be misunderstood as purely cosmetic or superficial. We’re here to change that narrative. We bring a “hometown girl” energy — approachable, honest, and deeply invested in our patients’ well-being. As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We’re the co-owners of a medical spa built on the belief that beauty and wellness should go hand in hand. Our journey into this industry started with a shared passion for helping people feel confident, seen, and well cared for — not just on the outside, but from the inside out.
We both came from healthcare backgrounds, where we saw firsthand the impact of true patient-centered care. I, Dr, Jessica am a practicing dentist that started injecting out of our dental office over a decade ago. My business owner, Shelby, is a registered nurse that commuted almost an hour one way as an injector at a prestigious medical spa for three years, after leaving her bedside nursing career of five years. A truly funny story, all thanks to a septic tank, crossed our paths and soon brought on the dream of Pure Skin and Aesthetics. We spent almost a year discussing and dreaming up what Pure would be like, and we eventually decided to go for it — we were set on opening the first medical spa in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The aesthetics industry, in our experience, often felt overly transactional, and sometimes even intimidating or disconnected from real-life wellness. We wanted to create something different — a space that felt warm, welcoming, grounded in science, and above all, personal. So, we took a leap and opened our doors!
Our services are as diverse as the people we care for. We offer a full spectrum of aesthetic and wellness treatments including natural-looking injectables, lasers, facials, and medical-grade skincare, as well as regenerative treatments, hormone replacement therapy, and weight management. What ties it all together is our collaborative, whole-person approach. Whether someone comes in for a single treatment or sees several of our providers in one visit, our goal is always the same: to help them feel like the best version of themselves.
We solve a few different “problems” for our clients. Some come to us feeling overwhelmed or unsure where to start in their self-care journey. Others are frustrated by the extremes of the industry — feeling fearful of the things they see online, and wondering where they should even begin. We meet people where they are, offering clear, honest guidance and personalized treatment plans that reflect their goals, values, and lifestyle. Our results are natural, never overdone, and designed to age beautifully.
What sets us apart is our culture. We’re not just a place to get injections or skincare — we’re a community. Our providers work as a team, and our clients often say it feels like visiting trusted friends who just happen to be experts. The way we make our patients feel is something we take a lot of pride in. We’re approachable, transparent, and deeply committed to staying educated, ethical, and in tune with what our patients truly need.
We’re most proud of the trust our patients place in us. When someone walks in feeling nervous or skeptical and leaves feeling empowered and at ease — that’s everything. It is not lost on us that our incredible patients are truly the reason we get to wake up and do this every day, and we want them to feel like the most important person in the world when they are in our chair. We want to know about what their kids are up to, how the vacation they took was, and how work is going for them. We have worked hard to build connection with our patients, and have in turn genuinely become their friends. We’ve built something we believe in, and we’re so honored to help change the narrative around aesthetics into something more thoughtful, more wellness-focused, and more human.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
This story is actually very funny and one that we love to tell! Shelby, the co-owner of the medical spa, and her husband own a septic company in our town. When we built our house a few years ago, we discovered that our septic tank was not working. With a house full of boys, that was not going to work. Shelby’s husband came out to service it. At this point, I was injecting neurotoxins for clients out of my dental office, and my husband, who is my dental practice partner, was ready for me to move somewhere else because we did not have the space anymore. At the same time, Shelby, was injecting at a medical spa an hour away from home with two small children, and she had started considering finding something closer to home. We ended up having to replace our septic tank and Shelby’s husband was out at my house for the install. We started chatting, and he asked me if I did botox, which struck me as comical, thinking maybe he was interested in smoothing out some wrinkles. He told Shelby that he had met me and she looked into my practice for dental care, and then saw that I did botox as well. She reached out at first to potentially do some botox out of my office to be closer to home. A few months later, we started meeting, and the dream of Pure started! We met for 9 months talking through all of the details – what we wanted Pure to be like, the pillars we wanted to be built on, and the plan for the future we wanted to go after. Now, after three years in business, we are so thankful our paths crossed!

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What’s helped build our clientele more than anything is the experience we create , not just the services we offer. From day one, we’ve focused on building genuine relationships, offering high-level expertise in a welcoming environment, and staying true to our values: natural results, collaborative care, and whole-person wellness.
Word of mouth has been huge for us. When patients walk away feeling seen, heard, and truly cared for, they tell their friends. They send their moms, sisters, coworkers, and neighbors. That kind of trust doesn’t come from flashy marketing — it comes from showing up consistently, listening closely, and delivering thoughtful, customized results that people feel good about.
Our down-to-earth, honest approach has also played a big role. The aesthetics industry can feel intimidating or even polarizing. We try to break down that barrier by making our space feel approachable and judgment-free. We explain treatments clearly, we never pressure anyone, and we meet people wherever they are in their journey. Whether someone wants a subtle refresh or a comprehensive wellness plan, we’re here to support them with care and integrity.
Another key factor has been our team. Our providers are not only incredibly skilled — they also genuinely love what they do and care deeply about each patient. That energy is contagious. People feel it the moment they walk through our doors. And when your team works collaboratively, as ours does, it creates an experience that’s seamless, supportive, and easy to come back to.
Lastly, we think our emphasis on wellness, not just beauty, has helped us stand out. Patients appreciate that we look at the full picture, from skincare and injectables to hormone health, weight management, and regenerative treatments. They don’t have to go to five different places to get the care they need. They can come here and be treated as a whole person.
In the end, what’s grown our clientele is what we value most: trust, connection, and results that feel right — not just impressive, but aligned with who our patients truly are.
