Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jessica Green. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jessica thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
Although it may not seem like it, I feel like I started my business at the perfect time, in February 2020. I started out as a Portrait Photographer, but I was initially interested in product photography. Some people told me that I should just do portraits instead and I took their advice. The pandemic hit like two months after I started and I felt like I was stuck. No one was going outside let alone booking shoots! The Speech Therapy Clinic I worked for closed and I didn’t know what to do with myself. I thought if I would have stuck with Product Photography, then maybe I would still be working. I decided to look into it.
I had been a photographer for a while, but I knew nothing about the business side of Product Photography. I was able to invest in coaches/courses and this was the perfect time to do it! I was able to take all of the unexpected free time to focus on learning more about product photography and hone my skills to create a client experience that would exceed expectations. This was also during a time when online shopping increased a great deal, so marketing was very important!
Starting my business at this time helped me understand early on that it’s ok to pivot! If I had started earlier or later I know for a fact I wouldn’t have had the time or money to invest in my business! I feel like the time I chose was just right!
Jessica, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve always been interested in photography. I had done it as a hobby for years before I got my first job. My first actual photography job was as a sales photographer at a local tourist attraction. That’s when I really got comfortable using DSLR cameras. I’ve worked for several photography companies over the years, but I always wanted to start my own.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has been Instagram and Google. Instagram has gone through a lot of changes recently.. I’m looking into focusing on other platforms as well like Pinterest and Linkedin!
What do you find most rewarding about being creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being creative is being able to use my art to help others. It’s very rewarding to be able to help ease an entrepreneur’s workload and improve the way their business is viewed by new and old customers. It’s especially rewarding to help improve their sales and make them more confident in marketing their businesses.
