We were lucky to catch up with Jessica Friednash recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
In life you are given 2 options. You can either take the risk or lose the chance. You can either conquer your dreams or regret not trying.
Numerous times in my life I let other people dictate my success and value. I shrunk myself so that other people surrounding me would feel comfortable. Countless times I told myself no or that I wasn’t worthy enough to receive the life I deserved because many times others made me feel small.
As I’m getting older and wiser, I came to the realization I am worthy and deserving of a good life. I’m learning that most of the people with these opinions don’t pay my bills, nor do they care about me on that level. So why not shoot for the stars when given the opportunity? Why wouldn’t I live my dream?
Although it can be scary, I love pushing my limits to see what I’m capable of achieving. I love challenging my inner strength and seeing just how far I can go. I don’t keep the words “I can’t” in my vocabulary anymore. Instead I say, “I can do this, I’m worthy enough and I’m a good person.” The way you talk to yourself can make or break you.
Some recent risks I’ve taken include: trying out for a movie role, doing a music review in front of an A&R for Sony (went great) consistently doing shows and moving to LA to pursue my music dreams. Putting myself out there has opened so many doors for me. I have learned to face fear and not run from it. I have also learned discouragement is a part of the process but the reward of taking the risk is what keeps me motivated. The more I take risks, the more I see my dreams come true. I will never give up on myself. I define my worth, nobody else.

Jessica, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have been singing before I could speak. My grandma told my mom, “your daughter has a voice!” I was classically trained and have been singing my entire life. I recorded my first song at 11 years old and taught myself how to play piano by ear. I am always in the studio songwriting and performing every chance that I get. I also do freelance hair and makeup as my day job to support my dream I chose this profession because I love making women feel beautiful and powerful. I believe what sets me apart from others is my authenticity, talent, how I treat others and my kindness. I’ve been told I light up rooms when I walk in them. I put my all in to everything I do and don’t like settling for mediocre. I always want to improve myself and be the best version of me. I want my fans, followers and clients to know there is so much beauty in being yourself. There is so much pressure to fit the mold, but being different and unique is actually what makes you beautiful. Don’t change yourself to fit the other people’s criteria. Try to IMPROVE who YOU are and focus on your strengths and the right people will see your worth. I want my fans to know I take pride in being a good person and being myself. I want people to know they can do anything they set their mind to. I want to change people’s lives with my music because I feel that is my purpose.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
When I know I’m changing people’s lives or have people message me saying my music is influential to them. Music has always been my first language and if I can make people feel something deeper from my music it’s amazing!

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I want people to know that it’s okay to be unique and comfortable in your own skin. I want people to know you don’t have to be someone other than you. I want the younger generations to look up to me and be inspired that no matter what obstacles are thrown your way, you can still chase your dreams. I want people to be able to hear my music and connect with me spiritually.
