We recently connected with Jessica Fetter and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your career and how did you resolve those issues?
My biggest obstacle yet was, and still is, being diagnosed with Guillian Barre Syndrome. June 28, 2024 I woke up with numb fingers and toes; over the next three days it would progress to not being able to swallow. Then, I was unable to walk or talk clearly, which led me to call 911. I went from a watercolor artist to almost paralyzed in a matter of days. I spent nearly 4 weeks hospitalized, followed by 5 weeks in a physical rehabilitation hospital, before being released to continue therapy at home. At one point, I ended up in the ICU where they were talking about intubating me; I remember laying there just repeating to myself, “Just keep breathing Jess and wiggling your toes. You’ll be ok.” They never had to intubate either. The power of our minds is crazy. I am still working to regain my strength and the use of my dominant right hand.
Jessica, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well let’s see, I am a Wife, and a Bonus Mom (aka stepmom) to two kiddo’s well I guess teenagers now. I was adopted by my grandparents which makes me the youngest of 7, the oldest of 3 & the oldest of three twice over. I worked in corporate america for almost 20 years. Like a lot of people 2020 played a big part of my mental health. I left my public service job in Aug. of 2020 and started a direct sales business. I did that for 2 years. In July of 2022 I took part in a business retreat to Florida, which resulted in me bringing covid home. I was sick for over a month, resulting in long-term COVID-19. But also the realization that life is too short not to enjoy what you are doing for work. So I started painting again, first year with acrylic, and then taught myself how to paint with watercolors. This year I started my writing journey. My story, The Enchanted Misty Vale, is available to read on kindle Vella. You can read the first 3 chapters for free. I also created my own weekly planner available on amazon. Oh, I am also working on my Art Therapy Practitioner Certification.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I have had numerous artist friends from Instagram get burned by scammers claiming to want NFT’s. It’s not something I see a lot of worth in.
