We recently connected with Jessica Dixon and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica , thanks for joining us today. So, what do you think about family businesses? Would you want your children or other family members to one day join your business?
My thoughts on family businesses are that, it is extremely important to teach your children how to self employ themselves and find something that they can create and make there own. Giving them the freedom to have the option to choose their path in life. It won’t be easy but it’s definitely obtainable with the proper tools and support to create and successfully establish a family business.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
A little bit about myself, my name is Jessica Rochele’ I’m from Dallas, Texas born and raised. I’m 36 years young, I have an amazing daughter. I’ve always been ambitious and goal oriented. As I progressed through life, I grew and developed myself into a true professional in my career in Corporate America.
With that it afforded me the ability to climb the corporate ladder which led me into leadership roles and ultimately managing a full finance department in a major company. Rubbing elbows with CEOs and CFOs daily it gave me the confidence to start my own business and explore entrepreneurship.
The opportunity presented itself for me to work under a former colleague over 3 years ago. I started working as a tax preparer as a side gig, while working a full time job. We were right at the brink of the pandemic when I started out and I was extremely successful my first tax season. I worked under my colleague for about a year. I learned a lot and I really grew to LOVE it.
From there, I parted ways and started “Jess Does It – Financial Services” my own tax company! In 2021, I birthed my business and finalized everything to start processing returns in 2022 on my own. Whew, I was so nervous and I hit a few roadblocks along the way, as new business owners do. And of course got discouraged at times and even had a FEW bought lessons but I kept it pushing despite it all.
I fully started running my company in 2022 – filing for 2021 tax season. I was so blown away of the amount of love I received from my community! I acquired clients from all over even outside of Texas! From there I was asked be in Voyage Magazine ( wink, wink ) which was printed in April 2022, there after I was recognized by the BBB.
My first year was absolutely amazing! Currently I’m into my third tax season and my second season as an owner. My tax firm currently consistent of myself as the Owner-CEO of the company and a few employees that are under me as tax preparers. I run a fairly well oiled business. I pride myself on setting the standard on professionalism, accuracy and integrity along with longevity as a tax firm. I feel thats what sets my company apart from others. Most importantly my firm works year around- for any tax assistance my clients may need during off season we’re available – we are in it for the long haul!
What I’m most proud of how is how far I’ve come, as I stated in my last article this literally started on pen and paper. And I just worked my goal list, one by one and here I am! It was wasn’t easy by a long shot, there were alot of lessons along the way but all those mistakes made my business better and most importantly it made me better as an employer and a service to my community.
Lastly, I want to leave a lasting impression on my brand and who I am as a person! I work hard and I’m extremely passionate about anything I put my mind too! I’m looking forward to expanding and just grow my business and venture off to do other things as well! Jess Does It – Financial Services is the foundation of what’s yet to come.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What helped to build my brand in the tax industry is “word of mouth”. A lot of my clientele came from referrals. And that says a lot about how I conduct business, I try my best to provide a professional decorum to all my clients and work with integrity and transparency in all that I do. Dealing with money it is extremely sensitive and I make a conscious effort to be available and treat my clients how I would like to be treated in a business aspect

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I make it a point to send out an end of the tax season email to thank my clients for trusting me this tax season in hope to retain their business next season. I’ve also had a referral program one season and raffles to keep the morale up and also posting success stories of my clients on social media to retain and gain new business
