We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jessica Chitwood a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I’ve always felt really connected to my intuition and psychic abilities. After going through a huge transformation at the time in my life I knew I was meant to connect to myself deeper, so I could help others do the same! I taught myself tarot, and became certified in Reiki, eventually I became a Reiki Master. I had a friend make my website, I had business cards made, started posting on line, Twitter, insta, etc and eventually built up my clientele. I knew in my gut this is what I was meant to be doing. Using my own life experience, intuition, and psychic abilities to help others. It was completely aligned for me. Starting on line was perfect.I could work from home, and also do what I love. I gave clients the choice of phone sessions, written readings, or voice memo, so depending on their needs they could have their Tarot reading given to them however they would like. My distant reiki sessions are also great, since reiki is not ruled by time or space clients can book a reiki session and I can work on the session for something that’s happening in a month!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Ever since I was little, the metaphysical, otherworldly and spiritual side of life always called to me, and felt like home. I would get tarot readings on my birthday in high school and the year I graduated I was gifted my first deck. I started practicing on friends and family and immediately knew this was what I was meant to do. I felt called to deepen my spirituality in 2015 and that’s when I discovered Reiki! I became certified in all levels and eventually worked my way up to become a reiki master. I just knew both of these things were what I was supposed to do, and being the Capricorn I am, decided to start “Heretoheal” which is my business. With tarot I go over a plethora of topics. Love, finances, career, general, messages from your higher self etc. My deck at this point is there to help give guidance but I’m so connected to it, and the energy that a lot of the time I’ll just see the cards in my head, like a vision and read based off that, which I think is so cool. I started healing, reiki and tarot when I was 20, so before I could even legally drink I was helping clients with divorce, finances, insane life changes, and often times holding space for really heavy situations. I’m most proud of myself for always listening to my gut, and confidently taking the beaten path because it’s proven that it doesn’t matter what other people think, if you feel called to pursue something, it’s worth investing in.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Like most people in life, I’ve come across truly amazing humans, and I’ve also come across some deeply unhealed ones. My spiritual teacher who had been my guide for years wound being extremely harmful and dangerous which was an extremely traumatic event since so much of my identity at the time was linked to her and my spirituality. I cut her out of my life, and truly began to flourish after that. I didn’t give up on myself, or my healing, it brought my closer to those things and really highlighted my resilience.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn is to stop forcing and really listen to myself and meet myself where I’m at, especially when it comes to my business. What I post, how much I post, etc. If I don’t feel called to, or passionate enough about something I don’t have to put it out into the world. Creativity should always come from a place of authenticity never from a place of pressure.
