We recently connected with Jessica Camacho and have shared our conversation below.

Jessica, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?

Back in 2019 I had just graduated from Florida International University. I was fresh out of college and was desperate to find a job that had to do with what I got my bachelors degree in which was Business Administration with a focus in marketing. Honestly, I felt so hopeless as I had no luck in landing a job in my career path. However, I decided to take a chance and moved to a different city that I didn’t know anyone. I trusted God that he would make a way and sure enough he did. I was able to have my bills paid while being unemployed, traveling the world to pursue my music/artist career. I was able to meet and connect with some amazing people along the way and landed a job in Higher education that I enjoy and am always encouraged by my office team to continue to pursue my music career. I’m learning new skills daily and really growing overall as a person and artist.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Jessica Camacho A/k/A Jekasole, born and raised in Miami, FL . I’m a singer/songwriter/rapper/speaker. I’m family oriented, I love watching movies, traveling and trying new food places. I originally got into music mainly from watching my cousin and his friends freestyle after school. I essentially used music as a way to express myself and thoughts that I wasn’t quiet sure on how to share with other people. In all honesty I make music with substance that doesn’t make my faith walk taboo. I’m very candid and creative with my lyrics and messages as I personally believe they hold substance. I love being able to share my vulnerability when given the opportunity, and being able to have listeners share how they resonate. Which is what I truly believe what sets me apart.

Aside from music, I love to encourage others around me .I’m very big on elevation not only for myself but for those who also want it. I love talking and sowing into others, especially the youth. I always want to encourage people that anything is possible and it just takes discipline in time management, learning to say no and not feeling bad about it.

What I’m most proud of so far in my journey is just being able to see growth within myself, and sometimes being able to hear testimonials of how I have impacted people to want to know the lord for themselves. My brand is simply purpose over opportunity. Not every opportunity has purpose, it can often be distractions. So, If you are aligned with purpose it will open up the right opportunities. That won’t hinder you but elevate you into the next season of your life.

My mission is to encourage others that hope has a name and it’s Jesus and he will meet you wherever you are at in life, if they give him the opportunity.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

Honestly, just really being myself as authentic as I can be. Letting people understand that at the end of the day I’m still a human being going through real life, just like anyone else. Building a community and making the effort to make the audience feel welcomed, appreciated and loved.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?

I would say being more open to helping independent creatives, by sharing a post, making donations and giving ideas or feedback when asked especially. Understanding that it does take a lot of patience, discipline, sacrifice, consistency and funding to do what we do.

Stop looking for handouts and start lending a hand whether it’s purchasing merch or word of mouth and sharing content. Buy and pre order the music and not just stream it.
