We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jessica Browne. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jessica below.
Jessica , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
After losing my job as an executive chef due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I began my creative journey as a content creator in 2020. With the extra time I’d gained, I had more time to scroll through social media, which is how I learned about content creation. I saw others making money online doing what they loved while working with their favorite brands, and I wanted to do the same.
Losing my job pushed me to take that risk, adopting a “what do I have left to lose?” mindset. This enabled me to devote myself entirely to my new creative career and take unimaginable risks in exchange for incredible opportunities. This also forced me to be uncomfortable on purpose, which I doubt I would have been able to do if I was still working a 9-5.
After working as a content creator for over two years, I wish I had started sooner. As a content creator, I discovered a new space to rediscover myself, experiment with different styles, and connect with other creatives like myself.
Starting earlier would have also given me the time I needed to be the mom I am now to my son, available for all of his needs.
This is one of the most significant risks I’ve ever taken in my life, but the rewards are well worth it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hey! My name is Jessica, but everyone calls me Jess. I am a plus-size beauty influencer and content creator living in the Atlanta, Georgia area. I am originally from New York City, but I relocated in 2018 to accept a position as an executive chef in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to this, I worked in the food and hospitality industries for over 15 years.
I started this journey when in 2020, after losing my job to COVID-19 shut downs. I used makeup as a coping mechanism during the pandemic’s difficult times. During this time, I decided to start creating content and writing beauty reviews in order to earn both beauty necessities and extra cash.
I realized how much I enjoy creating content at this point. So I decided to make a career out of it by creating my own platforms that celebrates everything colorful and beauty-related. After focusing for over two years, I was able to realize my dreams of becoming a plus-size beauty influencer and content creator.
On my platforms, I enjoy making high-energy transition videos, relatable beauty memes, and trendy makeup tutorials. My audience also enjoys interacting with the vibrant, colorful makeup looks that I create.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I believe that the key to growing on social media is to bring the “social” back into social media. To see growth, connect with other creatives by creating valuable content, sharing your story, and engaging with your community. Video content has also helped my growth by making it easier for me to convey my story and personality to my community.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The freedom that comes with being a creative is the most rewarding aspect of it. Not only am I free to be myself completely, but I also have more time to devote to the things I enjoy.
