We recently connected with Jessica Broemeling and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jessica thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I would have started my musical career much sooner. I love looking back at the growth and experience, but I put it all on the back burner for many years to raise my son, time I’ll never get back, but it stunted the growth of my music.
I was in a weird spot a little over 10 years ago, working in the underground rap scene for people who didn’t have the same vision as I did as far as where the music stuff could take us. That record lable fell apart and I broke off starting my own journey. I worked normal jobs, invested in my own studio equipment and began creating something that was mine, something no one else could take from me. I’m still working on some great ideas to get them to come to life, however my focus shifted when my son started getting older and I realized I needed to put my passion aside so that I could raise him as he deserved a mom that was present and a part of his life rather than one that was always touring and on stages.
I only wish I had started sooner so that I could have taken it further and made more music before I needed to take a break to raise my son, now I’m probably “too old” to still be doing the music stuff but I still find joy in the performance and connecting with the people.
Sports photography has been an awesome outlet until I could get back into making music. I still have a few hurdles to jump before releasing new music but the ideas never stop flowing.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Lady Jane was what my grandmother used to call me when I was in trouble, so when I was breaking off and creating my own music, the name just seemed to fit for the trails I started to blaze. I was one of the first female artists to take a stab at the country rap thing. Had my son recording when he was 8, our song together is still one of my favorites!
I’ve opened for Demun Jones, Twang and Round, Franklin Embry, and Caleb Bowles. I also performed with Big Po at a benefit concert in Arkansas for a soldier that needed his service dog. As much fun as it is gaining money from music, giving back with it is where the thrill is.
I’ve been working on a project for quite a few years because we keep hitting snags, but the idea is to make music for those that fight for our freedom and give back with the proceeds from it, it’s called The Support Soldiers Mix Tape. So I’m pretty proud of that and the fact that I’m a one woman show, I’ve tried to learn enough about producing, I do that myself as well as the visuals and pictures, it’s all done by me. Most have a team they get to thank, I do it all on my own. Which is the other reason I’ve not been able to focus as much as I’d like to on music, I’m busy out there photographing Football and Rugby in my free time outside of my normal 9-5 job.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is being able to relate to other people through music and my photographs really.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
It’s rare for it to happen overnight, take your time and really connect to your people otherwise they’ll drift. Engage often and just be real.
