We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jessica Bosworth. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jessica below.
Hi Jessica, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I started to learn how to crochet when most people did, during the pandemic. A lot of people had a lot of downtime and I was no different. I wanted a shawl and that was my first project.
I’m a visual learner so I watched (paused and slowed down) a lot of YouTube videos. It took weeks, but I was able to do it. Then I spent the next two years, on and off, learning how to do scarves and hats. After that, I learned how to do amigurumis and it’s been a constant learning since I made my first doll.

Jessica, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into the business side of amigurumis with the local vending markets and popups around my town.
I’m super proud of my growth. I started in December 2021 with these little octopi and bunnies I had made for a vending opportunity that was provided by Harley’s Toys and Comics, and now I have enough inventory for a 10×10 booth that I own.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of my crocheting business journey is that people love what I make. I love the things I make and its amazing to see someone else have just as much love for my creations.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I wish I was aware of just how many resources there were out there. When I started out, I just knew of YouTube tutorials and that’s all I worked with for about two years. I now know there are IG posts, Facebook groups, blogs, and websites dedicated to crocheting.
