Jessica, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with something countless entrepreneurs have had to figure out on the fly – how have you dealt with the rise of remote work?
My name is Jessica Anvar, and I am the Founder and Managing Partner of the Lemon Law Experts, one of California’s largest consumer lemon law firms, and CEO of LawLinq, Inc., a California State Bar Certified Lawyer Referral Service.
Our companies switched to remote work at the start of the pandemic and while we have seen great success with this transition, there were some major hurdles to overcome along the way. We have learned how to adapt and thrive in this setting. Below are 5 tips to help you successfully lead a remote organization.
1. Prioritizing Collaborative Communication
To be effective with remote working, businesses need to emphasize collaborative communication. Finding creative solutions to achieve this form of communication allows for streamlined operations, which will help your employees increase efficiency and productivity. Examples include shared spreadsheets, Zoom meetings, and collaborative project management applications such as Trello.
2. Set Clear Goals and Expectations
Transparency is key! It’s crucial to establish clear and measurable goals from the outset. This will enable you to track employee progress and determine if objectives and milestones are being met. It’s important to review progress and metrics on a regular basis to make sure everyone stays on path.
3. Streamline Business Processes
Using technology is imperative to your organization’s remote success. It would help if you keep your finger on the pulse of your business by constantly evaluating processes to ensure that they are as organized and efficient as possible.
4. Don’t Micromanage
Say no to micromanaging and instead focus on goals, deliverables, and milestones. Excessive supervision can have a negative impact on employee morale and performance. Instead, allow your team healthy levels of autonomy with periodic check-ins.
5. Show Your Employees that You Care
Remote work can be lonely and isolating. As a result, employee satisfaction and a positive workplace culture are important. By providing a space where team members are acknowledged for their contributions and accomplishments, employees are reminded of the overall value they bring to the company. Small gestures of recognition are meaningful and appreciated.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
