We recently connected with Jessi Arnold and have shared our conversation below.
Jessi, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I think most business owners can relate and have had moments where we question our work, our value, and reflect on our long term plan. You start adding up all the hours you invest each week, the constant to-do list, and sometimes wonder if having a full-time job that you can punch in and out of each day would be easier.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned since the pandemic, is that you have to take things season by season. Instead of viewing it as a failure if you decide to work for someone else for a season; we can view it as an opportunity to use all the skillsets we’ve built to help someone else’s brand and we’re actually still building our skillsets and resumes while doing that.
It’s perfectly ok to admit if your current business model is no longer bringing you joy. The beautiful thing about life is that we get to try new things and not limit ourselves.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Jessi Arnold Bajoie; co-founder and owner of Girls Meet Globe. We are a photo and video production company; specializing in content creation for lifestyle brands.
Currently we are the most proud of our interview series on our Youtube channel.
Our video series is about celebrating women and sharing your inspiring stories!
We want a way to connect with our community of women, after being isolated for so long through the pandemic.
We want to learn about and celebrate the artists, mothers, entrepreneurs, athletes and students; women in every stage of life.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I’m a huge fan of self-help books & podcasts; they really help keep me motivated on a daily basis! One of my favorite podcasts is:
– Moms Making Six Figures
Favorite entrepreneurial books:
– People Over Profit by Dale Partridge
– Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’m constantly pivoting in business! Being in the content creation industry, trends are always changing and you have to keep up. I started off as a photographer over 10 years ago. For years thats all I did, and I swore I’d never get into videography because it just felt too overwhelming.
Fast forward a decade later, and I’ve built a production company that brings together teams of photographers, videographers, editors, and directors. I realized that I don’t have to be the person behind the camera all the time; and in fact I now enjoy being a creative director and producer so much more! It’s incredible the kind of beautiful work you can create when you have a team of people instead of trying to be a one-woman show.
