We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jesse Smith. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jesse below.
Hi Jesse, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I don’t know if I ever thought I’d be doing anything creative professionally. I’ve always enjoyed building and creating things of all sorts it’s really my passion I really enjoy making things. Never would I have ever thought I’d be making “Art”.
Jesse, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started wildlight customs after a series of unfortunate events left me unable to continue working as a welder. I enjoyed welding quite a lot and spent about 2 years going crazy trying to find a way to use my hands and create things. After watching me struggle my wife came to me with the idea of the laser and shortly later we were off. I really do enjoy the laser it’s given me a renewed sense of purpose. I really enjoy making other people visions come to life. I think I like more custom work because it really allows me to stand out and allows me to enjoy a new challenge everyday!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
As I had mentioned earlier this all became a reality due to a series of unfortunate events. Well I’m a disabled veteran and I had a procedure done by the va then left me in a very bad spot both mentally and physically. I had felt like I was robbed of just about everything. After getting wildlight customs up and going it’s really allowed me to be myself and make stuff again! I think really what I’m trying to say is even though we all face challenging times it’s important to push through and keep going because eventually the sun will shine again !
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I think the most rewarding part for me is watching the vision in my head turn into a reality. I just enjoy being able to make and create with my hands. Making and creating is truly my passion!
