We recently connected with Jesse Rodriguez and have shared our conversation below.
Jesse, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I had a group of friends that I skate with even til this day and we had been wanting to start trying to film so at first I had just wanted to buy a camera so that we would be able to do that , so I got a camera from a friend of mine named jorge & then as time went by & I had kept filming I became really fond of it & only wanted to learn more so that I could get better at it while trying to be as creative as I could be with it too. I started skating & filming with friends a lot more making little small edits here & there. It was after a little while when I wanted to eventually pursue interest in the photography side as well. I saw similarities in both filming & shooting photos but they were also different enough in a way where you couldn’t get bored doing both so that’s what I did trying to progress along the way. It could be kinda hard sometimes for everyone’s schedules to align where we’re all free and could go try to film or shoot but overall I think that’s what is key to get better at the things you enjoy doing in life ; as much practice as you could get. Everyone learns at their own pace but if you keep going with it you’re bound to get better & have even more fun with it.

Jesse, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Jesse Rodriguez & im a photographer/videographer. On the photography side I shoot a variety of things such as cityscape, landscapes, portraits, family photos, grad pics. Etc.. & on the videography side I shoot a lot of skating but I’ll also shoot things such as weddings & skits ,etc.. so if there is anyone that needs help with making a video/editing one or even need photos for any particular reason I am capable of shooting & editing it all. I take pride in my work & do all that I can so that I can guarantee satisfaction to everyone that I work with at a good rate which you could contact me on Instagram @quietbrownkid to ask me more details about.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
There is an infinite amount of freedom when you find something you could be artistic & creative with. You learn a lot about yourself & the things you enjoy doing the most. There’s so much to learn about & alot of fun to be had in the process of doing so.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Being able to use adobe Lightroom when editing photos can help you understand what it is you are able to control about a photo look as well as being able to use adobe premiere when editing videos can just help u progress overall in the editing process which is important.
