We were lucky to catch up with Jesse Gracia recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Jesse thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?

Since I was a child I’ve always wanted to be a musician. My family has a love for music ranging from metal, oldies, cumbia, techno to rap. I was always surrounded by instruments & or music playing loudly through portable cd players. I first realized I wanted to be a musician when I was able to listen to music and dissect each part to hear exactly what each band member was playing. I would watch people in videos on stage & pretend I was them behind the instruments.

Jesse , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Jesse Gracia aka Dj D Ę M a Phonk Producer, Dj & Promoter out of Austin, Texas. I currently am apart of a couple of few phonk collectives globally. For the past year I’ve been hosting phonk oriented music shows under my brand South Texas Blunt Music. Some projects that I’ve recently released with Chokey Records in the UK are Purple Psyche & Compulsive Crimes by D Ę M on all platforms. My goal currently is to be more of record producer for people of all genres of music. I was raised with music whether it be at home on my drums and piano or in school on my trombone . In high school I was a drummer for some bands and would play locally every weekend which motivated me to pursue music full time.

: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

Throughout my music career I have developed many goals for myself. My main goal is to become an executive producer and a record producer for artists of different genres.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect for me is networking. The amount of wholesome people I’ve met in the music industry makes the career worthwhile.
