We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jessamyn Dodd a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessamyn, thanks for joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?

I hope to make an impact on the world with my career. My aim is to tell stories from a different viewpoint, and to give people a new pair of glasses so speak when reporting on important topics. I want to be remembered for being fearless and fair

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am a news reporter and anchor for a broadcast news channel. Network My expertise is in diving into law and crime stories. I love reporting on the latest Supreme Court decisions, and legal filings, as well as cold cases, and crime. I am open to interviewing politicians and celebrities from all walks of life, and all backgrounds
I pride myself on doing in-depth research about the subjects I am interviewing. Sometimes I will stay up past midnight reading about legal decisions so that I am prepared for whatever answers my guests give.
I am definitely a workaholic.
My parents instilled a crazy work ethic in me to always be the best. I can’t imagine just going into work and working on just one interview a day. I write several stories a day with some amazing writers and producers in addition to interviews or packages. We are part of a team, and we all work to make every show the best that we can.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

I wish I had leaned into LinkedIn sooner. The site has great courses so that I can continue to learn and update my skills. It is also great for connecting with people in my industry

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

I have big dreams and big goals. I definitely want to be a major player in the news game, and I feel like I am on my way there.
