We recently connected with Jess R1des and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I started my social media adventure with the idea that I would set out to inspire new riders, especially women, to get into motorcycles and firearms. My goal is for them to use my page as a resource for education and inspiration. Reason being, when I was first starting out 15 years ago, I wish I had a mentor of sorts who would have helped me navigate the motorcycle / firearm industry.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Jess R1des started with the goal to inspire and educate people looking to get into the motorcycle and firearm space. I create educational and inspirational content with some comedy sprinkled in on top. I’m most proud of the 1.7M follower base I’ve grown, also known as the Spark Army, they are a fantastic bunch of people who have helped me accomplish great things. For instance, a local motorcycle coach had his families trailer stolen. It’s contents included a 4 wheeler that his wife use to ride their special needs son around the motorcycle track. My Spark Army helped me raise enough money (in 2 weeks) to buy them a brand new 4wheeler. That’s the kind of stuff I love to do with my reach.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I love getting messages from people saying “I just bought my first motorcycle because of your videos” or ” I went to the shooting range for the first time. Thank you for the recommendations!”
I also get messages from people who say my funny content has helped them through dark days.
Anytime I feel like stopping, I think of those messages to keep me going.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I don’t think people realize how much time and effort goes into video creating – especially across multiple platforms. It takes a lot of strategy, planning and a ton of time. It’s basically a full time job to create content.
