We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jess Bluth a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jess, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
Starting and establishing your own chiropractic practice is not for the faint of heart. I was lucky enough to have the groundwork laid out for me while establishing my practice in South Jordan, Utah, quickly being trained to take over a small sole practitionership and then allowed to spread my wings into the healthcare field. It was not easy building a hands on healthcare practice during my first year of licensure and in the middle of a global pandemic. Those were some of the major challenges early on in practice, but we’ve only seen slow, steady growth since.
Some of the more regular, more expected challenges were to update obsolete technologies, to gain a positive reputation in the community, and train new staff so that the office operated as one cohesive unit. The list of challenges for a new business owner is long, but they can always be boiled down to some basic philosophies and habits that make waves into the operations of the business. I knew that if I put my head down and worked hard that my principles would carry me through most any entrepreneurial hardships. That would be my main piece of advice for a new healthcare professional looking to establish a practice in their community, establish your principles and philosophies first and then just go to work.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
We are a chiropractic clinic that specializes in sports and auto injuries. We see many families, young athletes and minor trauma cases that can be treated with conservative care. We use updated and progressive techniques like class IV laser treatments and platelet-rich plasma injections to treat musculoskeletal conditions with a single goal in mind for our patients: to help them live free of pain and full of hope. We are so proud to see feedback from our patients that express gratitude for our compassion and consistent results across the board. Our systems for check in, check out, scheduling, appointment duration and comprehensive nature of our care has been recognized by members of the community. This lead to our winning an award this year for a local magazine competition for BEST CHIROPRACTOR in Salt Lake County

Any advice for managing a team?
My advice for managing a team and maintaining high morale is to always being training, never get too lackadaisical with your own work and always strive for growth. Growth is exciting, whenever we all strive for the same objective and we all get there together, there’s something motivating about trying to do that over and over again, as long as it was challenging in the right way.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I believe the most effective strategy for clientele in the chiropractic field to maintain a positive reputation so current patient refer their friends and family to your practice. Also, creating a convenient method of leaving reviews or sending referrals is important to that process.
