We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jesika Floyd. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jesika below.
Hi Jesika, thanks for joining us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My parents taught me to know God. It might seem simple but it has had the most positive impact on my life. It has taught me to be a kind, caring person. To spread the word of God, help those in need, volunteer when opportunites arise and always look for the good in this world. There is so many things I see and hear in my line of work that are often quite ugly; therefore, walking close to God helps keep me grounded and focused on the good and not the bad that I so often see and hear.
I was taught so many “old school” values that I have passed onto my daughter. Things like respect your elders, pay your debts, if you can be anything, be kind.
My parents set boundaries, and while I may not have liked it at the time, I am so thankful now that they did or my life would have probably turned out differently, and not for the better. They were firm but fair and provided support with a loving, positive environment, which, again, I have done the same with my one and only child.
Both of my parents always told me how proud they were of me, and looking back, I can see what nurturing, well-being, and emotional intelligence this turned out to be. It instilled essential understanding and encouragement of independence that has helped me excel in life.
Hard work pays off, and treating people fairly and with professionalism and compassion is always important.
My parents were understanding even when they disagreed with me, they allowed me to entertain and have my own thoughts on matters of importance.
My parents allowed me to make age-appropriate choices, solve problems and learn from mistakes, which helped me develop independance and resilience.
I miss my parent, but their values live on through me and my daughter and hopefully her children someday.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am an experienced female polygraph examiner in Los Angeles, also known as a lie detector lady on all social media platforms. I have been administering polygraph tests since the 1990s. There are probably only a handful of female examiners in the world, so it is an elite group of us who can administer lie detector tests alongside some of our male colleagues.
Something that sets me apart from other polygraph examiners, both male and female, are a couple of things but it is important to know that I have my own office and administer polygraph tests full-time. Most polygraph examiners out there are part-time and do not have their own office. If they need an office, they rent one by the hour, but as for me, you can stop by my office in Van Nuys, where I work full-time, 6 days a week. i also have a studio in the same building where we film shows for content creators, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram talent. Obviously, when I began my business in polygraphs, social media was non-existent, but now it has blown up; therefore, a studio to film constant social media is a must. I am the most filmed female polygraph examiner thus far, and I take this seriously, even though I do a lot of fun film work as well.
I also take care of keeping all polygraph tests completely confidential. Most of the time, if a person comes into my office and I am testing them or their partner, I don’t even know their name. It is not necessary to know a persons name to administer a lie detector test. The polygraph instrument doesnt need to know their name as it will not make a bit of difference when scoring their chart.
I also travel worldwide and nationwide to administer lie detector tests. Usually, this is for film work, but there are clients that have flown me out to their homes to conduct a test as they could not find a local examiner in their city or state,
Besides the general public relationship and criminal polygraph tests, I administer lie detector tests for a wide variety of requests, including: dispensaries, law enforcement candidates or agencies, TV shows, real crime podcasts, reality shows, immigration, theft, social media content creators and talent, natural bodybuilding and fitness competitions. I have done bar mitzvahs, birthdays, anniversaries, halloween and New Years eve parties and a long list of fun events that want to include polygraphs as part of their entertainment.
I am very proud of the fact that my business continues to grow every year based on referrals and great feed back. It says alot about your business when I am getting calls because they have been referred to me by a prior client, I mean, wow, what a great compliment! I am grateful and happy that people are recognizing the confidence of a lie detector test. If you have questions of the accuracy remember this, in most cities and states in the USA, you cannot become a law enforcement officer without passing a polygraph test first!!!
I love this line of work. Love helping people get a resolution to situations that have been plaguing them for months or years. I enjoy the fun part of it, when I am able to entertain at a party or doing some film work that shows people another side of lie detector tests.
It’s important to know that a polygraph test measures microscopic changes to blood, skin moisture and respiration.
Remember, private tests are never filmed and are strictly confidential
Nothing surprises me anymore with questions that people have written down for me to ask the person taking the test. While some of the questions would be shocking for most people, they are very common for me.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I have learned many lessons at this point in my life, but one lesson in particular has taught me so many things. I have learned to “Never say Never”. I cannot tell you or even count how many times that phrase has come back to bite me.
What’s even more discerning is how long it took me to stop saying this. We are talking decades.
It’s actually quite embarrassing the times I have said never will I do this or say this or go there or whatever, my point is, “Never say never”. Depending on how long you live, its almost a certainty that it will come back to haunt you.
The backstory is, I have had to eat crow so many times due to the fat that I unwittingly used this phrase with all the confidence in the world. I will not enlighten you all with the pertinent facts but it is a valuable lesson to learn.
The word never, is pretty solid and permenant so its best not to use this and get yourself in a rut.
Perhaps it stems from being stubborn for so many years. I used to say it got me through tough times but I also believe it was to my detriment; therefore, I caution anyone from this mode of thought.
Best to keep an open mind an open thought to new ideas and spreading wings.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
It’s so funny that people would meet me and so “oh your so nice”, and it would catch me off guard. I wanted to ask, (but of course I did not), “why wouldn’t I be nice? It’s funny how people look at others and judge by someones appearance. We have all done it, myself included, but I did learn a very long time ago to be open and welcoming of everyone.
What makes the world go round are our differences. It has helped me build a wonderful polygraph business where I engage with people with empathy in a difficult situation, asking some very personal and delicate questions.
I am professional and friendly, but stay focused on the fact that people come to see me because they are seeking answers in a difficult situation.
I know that my clients appreciate my confidentiality and the fact that I put them at ease when they arrive at my office, knowing how hard it must have been for them to finally get to this point where they enter my office for answers.
I know that the integral value I put forth in my work has helped me excel in my line of business. I also know that as our world has evolved through social media, having a strong presence out there on the four main social media platforms has also elevated my reputation in the polygraph market.
Doing honest, reliable work by administering lie detector tests with discretion has also enabled me to build my business with referrals with clients from all walks of life.
