Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jesica Carden-Oree. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jesica, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success for some is a full calendar and making a substantial profit. However, for me success is making the event a memorable and cherished occasion for the couple and their guests. My goal for every event is to provide a service that exceeds expectations and fits well within their budget. I consider it a privilege to be a part of such a wonderful event and lifelong memory. Couples get married because they are a great match and I consider it also a success when I am a great match for them and their most special occasion.
Jesica, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am born and raised here in Charleston, South Carolina. My passion for event planning began at a young age. My caring, creativity and flair for details made me want to make the simplest of occasions fun and unique. My experience in the hospitality industry gave me great insight in to exceeding expectations through customer service. Combining these experiences with a variety of other backgrounds like fine jewelry, bridal, men’s ware, ballroom dance and floral design culminated my vision to become an event planner. A Veiled Event + Design is the realization of those experiences. I visualized my role as the perfect accessory on my clients wedding day. My mission is to make sure that I’m mitigating stress as the point person for not only couples but their family and guests during the planning process and on the day of event. On two occasions now vendors have had last minute illnesses and it was/is my duty to ensure a replacement. For couples who do not hire a planner or coordinator the responsibility would have been on them potentially ruining their day. I take pride in the fact I’m able to find solutions for my couples and the avoidance of these unfortunate circumstances are a display of the value of my service.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Very early on in this journey I had the pleasure and honor to connect with some amazing female entrepreneurs in the industry. One relationship in particular lead to my first booking, from this event I met other creatives who were supportive, vibrant and flourishing. In time my client base and colleagues all had the same thing to say – thank you for being genuine, transparent, diligent and caring. The most important thing which has helped me build this reputation is my ability empathize with clients and colleagues alike.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Social media is by far the best source of clients. Currently, I am still running the business social media pages and building my audience. Ninety five percent of my clients have come from the wedding groups on Facebook. In 2024 my plan is to build a website and further my reach.
