We recently connected with Jervon Whitney and have shared our conversation below.
Jervon, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
The name of my company is “ Jervon Whitney” which is the name that was given to me by my parents. My parents adopted me as a newborn and is why I truly cherish and value my name.
I have a few business with separate names. However I decided to combine them into one and I feel like “JERVON WHITNEY” fits perfectly to represent my brand as a whole.
My name is beautiful, it’s unique, and it stands out. And that’s exactly how I want my entire brand to stand out.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I would first like to start off with the fact that I have an amazing bow tie business. I make, customize the ties on my own and I sell them. I have been making bowties for 10 years as of June and it’s a blessing to have come so far. I also engage in all things fashion. Styling, creating, designing, closet organization, personal shopping, etc. I became interested in fashion when I was in 3rd grade. My mom was definitely a fashionista herself growing up I admired her looks. She always kept my brother and I dressed to the T!
I am looking for clients of all ages, shapes, sizes, color! I am ready to work ASAP! This is my passion and I just want to be an addition of helping people feel good and look good!!
High school was when I became more into fashion. I used to tell myself “when I get out of high school I wanted to do 1 or 2 things. Become a “Fashion Designer” or a Flight attendant.” But after a while I became discouraged because I had a son my first year in high school and I had no clue of how I would make it possible. (I would just daydream about it constantly).
Encouragement came from strangers, friends, and family. I consistently always received compliments on my style. It really made me my confidence boost. I begin working at a clothing store in Temple, TX called “Caroline’s” in my early twenties. I would literally dress the mannequins weekly and customers not only began buying the entire outfit, accessories, shoes off the mannequin but then they started requesting me to style them for events, or night outings. I became EXTREMELY confident then and that was my cue to move forward with my dream.
I attended The Art Institute of Dallas and Houston for Fashion Retail Management. And here I am today trying to go even harder. Business funding has been the only thing holding me back. But I’ve managed to get by and also educate myself (along with attending some classes recently) to get where I need to be today. My son graduates college in May so I’ve managed to give

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for me in growing my business has been consistently creating content on social media! Including hashtags to reach my targeted clientele has helped as well.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Well, before “creating content” became a thing I think that word of mouth and me consistently branding myself is what helped me build my reputation in my market! I’m forever grateful for this because word of mouth and branding myself is like a real true review.
