We were lucky to catch up with Jerry Walker recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jerry , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I would say having the right mindset and believing in yourself. Self-belief can fuel so many things that make any goal possible. If you believe it you can achieve it.
I once had a small photography background in my living room with a cash register on my kitchen counter and all in a one bedroom room apartment. However, my self-belief and my vision for my photography business was always clear. I believed that I would have an operating studio space one day and I worked hard until my dreams or goals became a reality.
Jerry , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Well I’m Jerry Walker. I’m a 6 year business owner of a photography studio in the Avenue West Cobb called Atlanta Portrait Studio.
At Atlanta Portrait Studio we focus on family friendly and professional photo services such as birthdays,holidays, life milestones and school graduations.
We are proud to say Atlanta Portrait Studio has helped donate over 1 million dollars to children’s charities over years along side our partnership with charitable photography organizations.
The studio is proud to have our net worth growth to be an estimated 800,000 to 1 million.
We have also consistently been exceeding our business goals year after year and have been mentioned best of GA photography by the Georgia Business Journal 3 times from 2022 to 2024.
Not only is Atlanta portrait studio one of a kind but is also proud to provide families with a budget friendly place to capture all their memories in photos.
How did you build your audience on social media?
We built our social media follows from 3 followers to now 6,000 but it’s important to know that having authentic 6000 followers is amazing. Every client that enters we try to make sure they don’t leave without wanting to follow us!
Do not get discouraged when you see some accounts with more followers. Just keep building and networking day by day and always make it easy for each client to scan a code to follow you or use strategic marketing techniques that lead to followers.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Good customer service and a great personality go a long way! Someone once told me hire the personality and not the long resume!
