We recently connected with Jerry Strohkorb and have shared our conversation below.

Jerry, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

I am a medical doctor and have practiced occupational medicine and public health for about 25 years. Several years ago I was very concerned about a family member with severe ulcerative colitis, who was not responding to usual medical therapies and quickly declining. To me he looked so ill, I thought he was going to die. His own doctors were doing everything they could do but he was not responding to high-power medications.

In desperation, I started to search the medical evidence for anything he could do to reduce his symptoms and improve his quality of life. In the research I found strong evidence for the use of high quality supplements including Omega-3 fatty acids, especially high DHA and EPA, and probiotics especially with bifidus bacteria. I went to a local health food store and bought him a 4 month supply of the highest quality items I could find and gave him clear directions as to how much and how often he should take them, based on the evidence. (He also corresponded with his doctor to be sure it was OK). I was amazed that his symptoms greatly improved within a few weeks, and he went into a permanent remission within a few months.

I realized there is a body of medical evidence for preventive supplements also called “Nutraceuticals” that could improve symptoms and quality of life at a lower cost to society and fewer side-effects for many people. A few years later my best friend and I, while hiking, had the idea to start the business, and we subsequently launched drjerrys.com under the company name ‘OATH HEALTH PRODUCTS,LLC.”

Our Company has a vision to help improve holistic health for all people, including physical, mental, social and spiritual health. We plan to develop many product lines that focus on holistic health and prevention. For example besides the “DrJerry’s” Supplement brand (https://drjerrys.com) we also recently launched a clothing line called OATH Activewear (https://oathactivewear) to support active and healthy lifestyles.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Our new company is called OATH HEALTH PRODUCTS LLC based in The Woodlands, TX – Our first brand recently launched called “Dr.Jerry’s” (https://drjerrys.com), which is a new line of supplements for common symptoms – Our new company has a vision to improve physical, mental, social and spiritual health for all people. We aim to become a global company with a variety of products that improve the health of all people.

In developing the “Dr.Jerry’s” Supplement line we focus on developing products that are high quality, based on evidence and for a great price.

QUALITY: It is critically important with health supplements to ensure high quality; most products on the market, especially inexpensive products are generally not good quality. We have tested many competitors and have found a high percentage have low potency and some even have harmful substances. Only with high quality products will you see good clinical effects, so it is really important to look for GMP certification – Dr. Jerry’s products meets extensive quality tests and are GMP certified.

EVIDENCE BASED: Dr. Jerry personally curates each product based on publicly available medical research, the products are designed to follow types, frequencies, durations, and doses based on the best available evidence.

We believe so strongly in the vision of our company that we have worked tirelessly to develop the business, launch the website and self-fund our development. Our persistence and dedication have led to exciting growth, including a recent celebrity endorsement with Tiki Barber, the 10 year NFL Running Back, including TV commercials, billboards and digital streaming. We are also excited to attend the Natural Foods Expo West in March, 2025 to make more contacts and show the brand to many retail buyers and possible clients.

Have you ever had to pivot?

I have many varied interests, I am a physician, artist, galleries and now entrepreneur. I believe life is precious and every day is a gift – I want to fully live, which means taking some risks to sometime pivot and be willing to try new things.

One good example of this in my life, was my early career pathway. For my medical studies I attended Eastern Virginia Medical School. and then to combine my love of visual arts and medicine I pursued a Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery residency at Duke University.

Several months into my residency post-call and tired, while driving at about 75 mph on the interstate, I fell asleep at the wheel, causing the car to turn 360s and hit the center trees. I was very shaken but beyond sprains and strains not seriously injured. While recovering, I thought about my life and I realized that the career I had selected was not a good fit.

I decided to change directions and found an amazing career in occupational medicine and public health, working for the Virginia Department of Health for about 10 years, then in Corporate settings for about 15 years. I really love occupational medicine, because it is population and prevention focused, has a lot of variety, and much broader and more creative in solving community health problems. For 25 years, I have been blessed to have some amazing experiences working in many settings, including internationally in Indonesia, and working for global corporations as a corporate physician, with a strong charge to protect populations of workers and prevent disease.
