We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jerry Rodriguez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jerry, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
After several years of experimenting with photography, exploring creatively with close friends, I reached a pivotal moment where I knew it was time to formalize my passion. It was the year 2019, and my photographic aspirations had been temporarily set aside due to work. However, I finally felt prepared to transform my enthusiasm into a tangible pursuit. During this time I crossed paths with a friend who was is in the entertainment industry, igniting a fire within me to take the plunge.
Yet, destiny had its own plans, as only a few months later, the pandemic swept across the world, confining me to the confines of my home. The constraints were frustrating, but as soon as the opportunity presented itself for outdoor photoshoots, I got my things and started to go out and shoot.

Jerry, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a portrait photographer with a genuine passion for my craft. My specialty lies in capturing the beauty of natural light and the authenticity of street-style photography. My clientele primarily consists of aspiring actors and models seeking headshots and updated portfolio shots for their castings. However, I also enjoy covering private events and gatherings.
What sets me apart is my unwavering enthusiasm for photography. Regardless of the location or subject, snapping photos always puts me in a great mood. I take immense pride in my photography journey, especially the recognition and publications I’ve garnered along the way. There’s something incredibly gratifying about receiving acknowledgment for doing what you love.
One of my core values as a photographer is to ensure that my clients receive the best possible images. Whether it’s a candid shot at a private event or a model seeking standout portraits for their portfolio, I’m committed to making them look their absolute best. I place significant importance on my work, investing ample time and thought into the editing and retouching process to deliver exceptional results.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Giving life to my thoughts and ideas has been an incredible journey. In addition to my photography pursuits, I’ve recently co-produced a short film with Riel Dioquino a very talented creator titled “Por Ti.” Witnessing the transition from a mere concept in my mind to taking concrete actions and ultimately bringing it to life has been an immensely rewarding experience.
While there are still numerous ideas swirling in my head, waiting to be set into motion, I’m excited about the creative content that will soon emerge from these inspirations. Stay tuned for more exciting projects and expressions of creativity!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
The world is brimming with talented individuals and exceptional creators, but one invaluable lesson I’ve learned is that when you focus on your own work and view yourself as your biggest competitor, you not only enhance your skills but also surpass countless challenges. There have been moments when I questioned whether pursuing my passion was truly worthwhile. Photography isn’t always a field that guarantees stable income, and it can be incredibly frustrating at times.
However, I’ve come to recognize that these moments of self-doubt often signal that I’m on the brink of something great. My love for photography fuels my determination, and I dream of one day working with a renowned publication like VOGUE. After all, if someone else can achieve it, why not me?
