We recently connected with Jerry Burt II and have shared our conversation below.
Jerry, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
“Growing up, my dad encouraged my brothers and me to take guitar and piano lessons every week. I was around eight years old when I first fell in love with music. My older brother, Lanell, was heavily into music, playing drums in high school and collecting of music from various artists. The knowledge and skills I gained during that time have proven invaluable in my career as an artist and businessman. While there’s no shortcut to mastering your craft, the more time you invest, the more knowledge you’ll acquire. Self-doubt and the temptation to quit were the main obstacles that stood in my way, but having faith and perseverance were essential to overcoming them.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Lancaster’s Rising Star: Young Philly Blunt Lancaster, CA – Young Philly Blunt, a talented up-and-comer in the music industry, was born in Los Angeles, California, but his journey to stardom began in Lancaster, where his family relocated when he was 12 years old. Seeking a safer environment, his father moved the family to Lancaster, paving the way for Philly’s future success. In 2019, Young Philly Blunt founded his independent label, Black Hall of Fame LLC, marking a bold step forward in his career. Since then, he has been dedicated to putting Lancaster on the map in both music and fashion. His efforts have earned him collaborations with prominent industry figures, including My Guy Mars and the late Slim 400. Young Philly Blunt is currently making waves with his viral video “AV Stand Up” and his debut album “14 N,” featuring Lil Scotty Pz. The streets are buzzing with his latest releases, cementing his status as a rising star in the music industry.
Have you ever had to pivot?
“There have been times when I had to pivot. Like four years ago, I had a show in Arizona with my friends, but they all bailed on me at the last minute. I considered canceling, but I decided to go solo anyway. And you know what? The crowd loved me, and I had a blast! It was a turning point for me. I realized that every day, you have to adapt to unexpected challenges and navigate through uncertainty. It’s a journey, especially when you’re focused on taking your career or business to the next level. You have to be determined and willing to pivot when necessary.”

We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
“When NFTs first emerged a few years ago, everyone was eager to invest in them. However, as the years passed, the hype surrounding NFTs has dwindled, and the market has declined. As a result, I don’t think investing in NFTs is a wise decision at this time. While some experts still believe in their long-term potential, I’m skeptical about their current value. I think it’s essential to be cautious and wait for a more opportune moment to invest in NFTs, if at all.”
