Jerrod , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with what makes profitability in your industry a challenge – what would you say is the biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge with profitability in my industry is just getting clients to understand that their health is their wealth and without health, fitness, and other things related to exercise it’s going to be hard to live a good life because we all know father time comes and things of that nature comes where it is a medical Emergency of some sort for most people. We don’t understand that these things can just pop up and if you’re not on top of your health, then it can be a big financial burden when those medical expenses and bills come so I tell my clients don’t worry about the money because it’s an investment just like anything else would be once you invest in your health and your self then you start to live a better life, feel better be more confident and everything that you do
Jerrod , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into the fitness industry in 2016 and this all came about him having a sports related injury lead me to getting my personal trainer certificate because I always wanted to work with people and make them feel good about themselves and be confident so personal training was one of the good opportunities that I came across and it was something that I knew I could do every day without getting bored without regretting you know, I’m saying having a job That I don’t enjoy.
The best part of help my job is making people happy when they get their results seeing the confidence that they have after they’ve been a hard place and overall just being a person who can be looked up to for someone who may be lacking discipline and other things that may be holding them back, so I always wanted to be someone who you can look at and say well. If he can do it I know I can do it he’s been through this, so I know I can do it and I’m not not as half as bad, so that right there just brings me joy about my job.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy that I use is client results in the fitness business results are top priority. Once you get results for a client, then where the mouth comes into play, and that goes a long way as well, but ultimately people on the outside looking in want to see results they also want to know what can you offer? Mine said wise, you know Like when you come into a program is it a family oriented? Is it strict? You know some people like different structure so I try to keep everything where everybody I can relate to. I can make it comfortable for everybody who I come encounter with and just give them the best experience That they’ve ever had with their trainer
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
A time I’ve had to pivot within life was when I sustained injury playing ball, and I had to make a decision on what I wanted to do to provide for my family that became personal training, because that was not my initial go to for a job, and then I also juggle a few jobs as well. In the meantime, with personal training, but I didn’t really fully pursue it Until one day at the job that I had that I last had which was Gucci America. I didn’t like how things were being done as far as how they were operations and stuff ran so I ultimately quit and told myself that I was going to work for myself, and I was going to take full responsibility for me doing my personal training thing which some can say it was a side hustle and turn into a main hustle but for me, it was more so a passion of something that I did love to do but I had to see it through first before I fully committed to actually being a full-time personal trainer
