We recently connected with Jeromy Rosa and have shared our conversation below.
Jeromy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
I would love to be an actor full-time but I understand that it’s a process and it does not happen overnight. I feel that I have done a good amount of background work to lay a foundation for becoming a more established actor. I also found out recently that I am eligible to join SAG-AFTRA which has motivated me even more to pursue this career further.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I moved to Los Angeles in April of 2021 and I moved into a co-living where one of my roommates was a SAG actor. He pointed me in the right direction to join Central Casting and get some acting jobs under my belt. Everything happened in sort of a chronological order when it came to acting and I’m incredibly grateful for it.
One thing I’m most proud of is making that decision to completely uproot my life and move to Los Angeles. It was definitely scary at first because I never came here before I moved here so it was definitely a leap of faith. I did a lot of reflecting during the height of the pandemic and I just wasn’t content with where I was in my life and I felt like I needed a significant change.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I think the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or a creative is the need to be constantly mentally stimulated. I personally have always felt that you don’t really get that from a traditional job. In most cases in the workplace you just have the same approach to doing things and it can become so repetitive that you start to feel like anyone can do this. In the creative field there’s more of a sense that only I can accomplish what I’m currently trying to do and I feel there’s a lot of value in that.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Just being myself honestly, I feel that authenticity is the best approach when it comes to social media presence. I also try not to get too wrapped up in it because it seems like people are starting to make it their whole identity. Everyone wants to paint this picture that they live this perfect life but that’s just not the case on a day to day basis. I try to motivate people more on that platform as well because there is so much negativity on social media these days and people get this notion that their opinion matters more than it actually does, and I personally believe that they feel the need to voice it on any given topic or social issue.
