We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jermarcus Wise a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jermarcus, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
For as long as I can remember, the idea of having my own media company was a movie I’d watched a million times in my head. It played like scenes from a film I was meant to direct. Still, that desire always felt just out of reach. I didn’t know when it would happen or how it could happen. I just knew storytelling lived in me. Capturing people, moments, and memories wasn’t just something I enjoyed; it was something I needed to do.
I didn’t choose the camera.
The camera chose me.
But after college, even with the skills and experience, the dream somehow felt even further away. I kept waiting, waiting for the right job, the right chance, the right moment, the right “sign” that it was time. And one day, I got tired of waiting. I realized nobody was going to hand me the opportunity I was hoping for. If I wanted a spot in this industry, I had to build it myself.
Once I made the decision to stop waiting, something shifted. That moment became the true beginning of JWISE Productions.
I committed fully, almost obsessively to the development and production of my company. I spent months researching what it actually meant to run a business: how to register an LLC, what equipment to upgrade first, how to brand myself, how to price my work, and how to create a client experience people could trust. I stayed up late watching tutorials, studying lighting techniques, and learning the business side of creativity.
Then I started executing.
I bought the gear I could afford and learned how to push it beyond its limits. I had a friend help me build my website. I created my logo. I gathered my early experiments, some of my proudest moments and stitched them into a portfolio that told my story better than words ever could. I made a promise to myself: I wasn’t going to hide my work anymore.
From there, JWISE Productions was born. And I’ve been living in that decision every day since.
Every client, every shoot, every challenge pushes me to grow. The work keeps me disciplined. It strengthens my faith. It keeps me hungry to deliver industry standard content, create more, and evolve further.
I didn’t start this company because I had everything figured out.
I started it because I refused to let fear keep deciding my future.
JWISE Productions is more than a company.
It’s a world I built from scratch. It’s a testament to owning your story before someone else tries to write it for you.
I built an opportunity where there wasn’t one.
And I’m still building every single day.
And I challenge you to do the same.

Jermarcus, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Jermarcus Wise, founder of JWISE Productions, where storytelling comes to life through screenwriting, photography, and videography.
From a young age, storytelling has always been at the center of everything I do. I’ve been fascinated by the power of storytelling. How a single scene, frame, or image can move people, spark emotion, and create lasting memories. That fascination led me to explore multiple creative mediums, combining the written word with visual storytelling to bring ideas to life in unique and impactful ways. I wanted to recreate that experience over and over. Like watching your favorite movie nonstop. I wanted to take that joy and excitement and present it to people and make them the star and feel like one.
My work is about more than visuals; it’s about creating experiences that connect, inspire, and leave a lasting impact.
At JWISE Productions, I help individuals, brands, and organizations craft their narratives visually and emotionally. Whether it’s through a cinematic video, a dynamic photoshoot, or a fully developed script, my goal is to capture the essence of each story and translate it into content that resonates. I focus on more than aesthetics; I create experiences that engage audiences, communicate authentic messages, and elevate personal and brand identity.
What sets my work apart is the blend of creativity, technical skill, and strategic storytelling. I don’t just take photos or shoot videos. I capture the essense of people and moments, build worlds and help clients visualize and communicate their vision with precision and clarity. I’m most proud of building JWISE Productions from the ground up, turning a lifelong passion into a professional platform that produces hundreds of projects while consistently exceeding expectations.
For anyone looking to collaborate, I want them to know that working with me is more than hiring a creative professional. It’s joining a process where ideas are nurtured, stories are elevated, and each project becomes a meaningful visual experience. My mission is to bring imagination into reality, inspire audiences, and help my clients’ stories leave a mark that lasts far beyond the camera shutter or final edit.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding part of being an artist is witnessing the moment when something I created truly connects with someone else. There’s nothing like watching a person see themselves in a different light because of a photo I captured. And actually love what they see. There’s ntohing like getting a message from someone who felt moved by a story I wrote. That moment when creativity turns into inspiration. That is the fuel behind everything I do.
Being a creative allows me to turn my imagination into something tangible: a scene that feels alive, an image that freezes emotion in time, a story that makes someone stop and think. The real reward is knowing that my work doesn’t just exist, it resonates. It inspires, uplifts, challenges and sometimes even heals.
At the end of the day, the greatest feeling is knowing that something I envisioned in my mind can end up meaning something to someone else. That connection to the artist to audience, creator to viewer is what makes this journey worth every long night, every risk and every leap of faith.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Absolutely! There’s a very clear mission driving my creative journey. Ever since I could pick up a pen, I wrote anything my wrist could manage to scribble. Writing is my first love, birthed from long nights watching movies with my dad. Those films pulled me into worlds that felt real emersively real. My favorite films made me forget where I was and drew me in the moment unfolding on screen.
I didn’t just fall in love with movies. I fell in love with the experience. The way a story can transport you, challenge you, comfort you, or make you see life differently. Eventually, that love turned into a calling: I didn’t just want to watch these stories unfold I wanted to create them.
My mission is to build worlds, craft characters, and tell stories that move people. Stories that are relateable, emotional, and honest. I believe the world is hungry for fresh narratives, new perspectives, and voices that haven’t been given the proper amount of spotlight. My goal is to contribute to that shift. Through screenwriting, filmmaking, photography and every visual medium I touch, I want to create experiences that resonate long after the credits roll.
At the heart of everything I do is one simple belief:
Stories shape people and people shape the world.
My purpose is to write the kind of stories that goes beyond the screen and into the hearts and minds of society. With my movies I want to bring joy, courage and spark the minds of the world changers of the next generation to believe that they can write the vision and become it.
