We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jermaine Peguese. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jermaine below.
Jermaine, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
You want to know how I came up with the idea for my business? Alright, let me take you back to a pivotal moment in my life—a time filled with a mix of frustration, determination, and a spark of inspiration.
I’m Jermaine Peguese, the President and CEO of Pathworth Consulting and Solutions. My journey to starting Pathworth began about 7 or 8 years ago, during what I often refer to as my “dark ages.” Back then, I was an eager but inexperienced entrepreneur, jumping from one side hustle to the next without a clear sense of direction or a solid plan. I had a series of failed ideas and ventures that left me feeling stuck, questioning my path, and searching for my purpose.
I was sitting in my room one evening, deep in thought, surrounded by the remnants of past failures. It was one of those nights where you’re just reflecting on life, trying to piece together the puzzle of what comes next. I felt like I was at a crossroads—unsure of where I was heading but certain that I didn’t want to stay where I was.
Then, seemingly out of nowhere, a J.G. Wentworth commercial played on TV. The phrase “It’s my money, and I need it now!” resonated with me, but it was the emphasis on “worth” that really struck a chord. I found myself asking, “What is my path truly worth? What am I really trying to achieve, and why do I keep ending up back at square one?”
That moment of clarity was the spark I needed. I realized that all those failed attempts were not setbacks but lessons—experiences that were guiding me to something bigger. I needed to create something that reflected my journey and had the flexibility to evolve as I did. That’s when the name “Pathworth” came to mind—a blend of “path” and “worth,” symbolizing the value of my journey and the journeys of others like me.
But the journey didn’t stop there. Initially, Pathworth started as a credit repair company, but as I grew, so did my vision for what the company could be. I wanted Pathworth to be a multi-dimensional platform that could adapt and expand, offering services like consulting, digital marketing, and now, AI solutions. The idea was to solve a problem that I faced early in my career—lack of guidance, resources, and mentorship for aspiring entrepreneurs. I wanted to offer something unique: a comprehensive support system that could help others navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship with the same grit and determination I’d learned to harness.
What got me most excited was the idea of turning my struggles into solutions for others. I wasn’t just creating a business; I was creating a community and a resource for people who, like me, needed a bit of guidance to find their way. Pathworth isn’t just about consulting or solutions—it’s about empowerment, transformation, and paving the way for others to succeed.
Every step of the way, I knew this was a worthwhile endeavor because it was rooted in my personal experiences and my desire to help others avoid the pitfalls I encountered. The logic was simple: I wanted to build a business that was as dynamic and resilient as the entrepreneurs it served—a business that grows, evolves, and thrives alongside its clients. That’s the heart of Pathworth, and that’s why I’m so passionate about what we do.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

My entry into this industry was driven by personal necessity and a deep-seated desire to fill the gaps I faced as an aspiring entrepreneur. After numerous ventures that didn’t pan out, I learned invaluable lessons about what it truly takes to build and sustain a successful business. These insights laid the foundation for Pathworth Consulting & Solutions, which started as a personal mission to offer the kind of support and strategic advice I once desperately needed.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the most pivotal lessons I had to unlearn was the idea that failure is the opposite of success. Early in my career, every setback felt like a definitive sign that I wasn’t meant to be an entrepreneur. This perspective often left me discouraged and doubtful about my path. However, as I navigated through various challenges, I began to see that these failures weren’t roadblocks, but rather stepping stones essential for learning and growth.
I remember one instance early in my venture into digital marketing where a major campaign flopped spectacularly. Instead of letting this discourage me, I delved into understanding why it failed. This process uncovered gaps in our market research, which, once addressed, led to one of our most successful campaigns later on. Each failure was providing invaluable feedback—not just about what didn’t work, but also about how I could improve and adapt.
Embracing failure as a natural and necessary part of the entrepreneurial journey was a game-changer for me. It shifted my mindset from fearing failure to learning from it, enabling me to approach challenges with resilience and a proactive attitude. This change in perspective has been instrumental in my growth and success. It allowed me to iterate more quickly, innovate more effectively, and move forward with confidence, even in the face of uncertainty.
To anyone navigating the tumultuous waters of entrepreneurship, remember: failure and success are not opposites but complements in your growth journey. Viewing setbacks as opportunities to learn and evolve can transform the way you do business and lead to greater resilience and success.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
In the early days of my entrepreneurial journey with Pathworth, I was primarily focused on credit repair—a valuable service, but I realized it was just one small piece of the puzzle for business owners seeking thorough support. This realization came during a period I refer to as my “dark ages,” filled with temporary jobs and financial uncertainty, which pushed me to reevaluate my path and ambitions.
As I faced these challenges, I recognized that my true passion wasn’t just in solving one aspect of business but in empowering entrepreneurs to navigate their entire business journey. This insight led to a significant shift at Pathworth. We expanded from focusing solely on credit repair to offering a wider range of business consulting services, eventually incorporating advanced technologies to better serve our clients.
This shift was about more than expanding our offerings; it was a transformation fueled by the resilience I had developed during those tough times. Each setback taught me the importance of adaptability and the power of using technology to solve complex challenges. By applying these lessons, I directed Pathworth towards utilizing cutting-edge tools, enhancing our ability to offer innovative, effective solutions that drive growth and operational efficiency.
Today, as we delve deeper into the technology space, Pathworth stands at the forefront of business innovation. We provide strategies that not only address immediate challenges but also set the foundation for long-term success. This strategic shift has transformed our business model and allowed us to make a significant impact on our clients’ businesses, helping them thrive in a constantly evolving marketplace.
This journey—from grappling with personal challenges to leading a tech-forward company—illustrates the essence of resilience and the importance of continuously aligning business strategies with emerging technologies and market needs. It underscores our commitment at Pathworth to not just adapt and survive but to lead and redefine the industry we operate in.
