We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jermain Hollman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jermain , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Growing up I was always drawn towards story telling through books, poems and especially movies and television. I would love to immerse myself in a great TV show and or movie. I would dream how cool it would be to be on TV. But like many dreams I thought it would not be an obtainable goal. I went to college and studied Communications Art with a concentration of TV & Film production and Journalism. But it wasn’t until my junior year when took a screenwriting course and film making course where we had to write scripts and act in them that really felt a spark for both acting and film making.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am actor , model and producer. I have been on such TV shows such as Star Trek: Picard and Colony, also in feature films such as Rob Zombie’s “31” and SYFY channel originals in addition I have been in commercials for brands such as Alfa Romeo and WHOOP. I’ve also modeled for Target and Fabletics. I truly believe success in this industry comes from working hard by being prepared, harboring positive relationships, believing in yourself and taking chances. Enjoy the process of story telling through the lenses of a character. If it is drama or comedy finding the way to stay presence and enjoy yourself is key. I got into this industry while I lived in New York City. I signed up for a improv class ( Gotham City Improv) and started classes in the theatre on broadway. I feel like I most proud of is making a dream into a reality and taking a chance and watching it pay off at my own pace.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I first started in pursuing an acting career I was working full time at a publishing company in New York City. Every night after work I would go the Threatre district and would take classes. Once I started to become eager for more and started to go on auditions I had to balance working a full time job and pursue acting. I loved it so much that I didn’t want to quit I just wanted to get better and keep going.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I just want to tell stories and be creative. I believe being true to the work will take you far in this career. I want to continue to be honest to the stories I tell and the characters I play. If I continue to do that then the sky is the limit.
