Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jerica Watson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jerica , thanks for joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I started out in business in late 2018 making aromatherapy candles with my daughter. I choose a name based off what my daughter thought sounded good with no real research or effort. The business name was available as a whole but it was partially trademarked. As we grew I started receiving letters and emails regarding that every year. I kept proving them incorrect but I always seemed to come to a halt when trying to advance the business. Making the choice to change my business name after 5years of building my brand was terrifying. I was not sure how it would be received or if I would loose those looking for the old name. I chose to trust God and move forward. I did the complete research on the name and checked all trademark ways it may be listed. I would like to conclude by saying it was the best decision I have had to put in less effort for our name to stand out as it has no close competitors and JaiJou Candle Co has thrived for it.
Jerica , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

How did you build your audience on social media?
I built organic followers on my social media by participating in “follow trains” in different networking groups in my area and surrounding states over the course of 2 months excessively. I also take advantage of vendor events I attend or work at to ask people to follow of like my page in exchange for a follow back or even a raffle prize drawing
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn that family will be your biggest supporters. My family is amazing and very supportive. But it was unrealistic of me to think that it was going to be my family that supported my business enough for me to work it full time as big as my family is that was not going to happen. It took strangers people that I didn’t know people that I would meet and am still going to meet to make my business international
