Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jeri Ford Kayla Loschky. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jeri Ford, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the story behind how you got your first job in field that you currently practice in.
Kayla and Jeri both got their first pediatric nursing job right out of college (which is not always that easy)! Many new graduate nurses want to go into pediatrics, and there are a much smaller amount of jobs available. Both of them have a persistent personality which definitely helped land the job.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Baby Whisperers was founded by two Pediatric Registered Nurses, Kayla Loschky and Jeri Ford. They met over ten years ago at their very first nursing job and have been friends ever since. While searching for a job a little different than working at a children’s hospital, Kayla ventured into the private baby nursing world and quickly fell in love. Once discussing with Jeri, they realized the process needed much improvement. Typically, baby nurses are hired through word of mouth and there is not a mainstream way for parents to find them. Also, the term “baby nurse” is a catch all – from nannies to infant care specialists. We wanted to create a service for families to be able to hire baby nurses who are experienced Pediatric and/or NICU Registered Nurses, thus Baby Whisperers was born. We ultimately want to educate parents about safe newborn care and empower them to care for their newborn the best way they can. Many families are left tired and nervous immediately after birth, and it can put a real strain on the family dynamic. The first few weeks at home can truly set the tone for parenthood and babyhood alike. We have seen first-hand how education and recuperation in the home can dramatically change the parents experience and bonding with their newborn. Our focus on education and empowering the parents is what sets us apart from nannies and other professionals.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
A strong intuition and a great sense of “reading” people are key in this field. Let’s face it- being a brand new parent is incredibly overwhelming and often times you need help but don’t know what exactly you need. Many new parents struggle knowing what to ask. As a baby nurse, being able to assess a newborn and their family’s needs accurately can make a huge difference post-partum. This skill can greatly impact the family’s ability to feel empowered in their new role with their precious baby.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Baby Whisperers has built a wonderful reputation by not only being college educated and seasoned with experience, but having a personal touch as well. Each family is individually interviewed to assess specific needs. We cover every detail and expectation long before the baby nurse comes to your home. We offer a personalized experience every step of the way. The expertise is just a cherry on top!
