We recently connected with Jeremy Wolf and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeremy, thanks for joining us today. Your ability to build a team is often a key determinant of your success as a business owner and so we’d love to get a conversation going with successful entrepreneurs like yourself around what your recruiting process was like -especially early on. How did you build your team?
The inception of MindReady (www.mindready.co) was a collaboration between myself and Dom Morais. As someone who has experienced the rigors of being a professional athlete, and with Dom’s extensive background as an athlete, educator, and college professor, it felt like the perfect team to launch MindReady and we’ve loved building this sports performance coaching company together. From my personal journey, I can affirm the critical importance of an athlete’s mental health. The MindReady resources we provide to our athletes today would have been invaluable during my own athletic career. I firmly believe that increasing educational opportunities for athletes, coaches, and communities will significantly enhance their well-being and success – on and off the field.
At MindReady, we believe in an empathetic approach to our mission. This isn’t like selling accounting software, each athlete will come to our platform with a different life experience, and different reasons for working with us. Every athlete strives to be their best, and they deserve the best coaches in the world. This is what we have built and are continuing to build on a daily basis.
Our MindReady team understands that each athlete’s needs are unique and came on board because of this very feeling. Each member of my team wants to support athletes like them by providing the highest-quality mental performance coaching and education the world has ever seen. That is our mission, and I’m so grateful for the community we have built thus far.
MindReady would not be who we are without Gabe Zelico, Dillon Walker, Kay Lowry, Natalie Osborne, Rachel Hoeft, and the dozens of other team members who make MindReady such an incredible place to work.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Growing up in Arizona, I competed against some of the country’s top athletes and despite performing well, I always felt like I wasn’t good enough. I really struggled with managing my emotions, I wasn’t able to bounce back from failure, and it was hard for me to prepare for games because I just had so much anxiety when it came to my performance.
During college, I played at Trinity University in Texas where we won a national championship and I was later drafted by the New York Mets. I even had the honor of qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with Team Israel. In all my years of playing, I never had resources available to me that would be able to support my mental performance – no coaching, education, or group training. If I did, I know I would have performed better.
MindReady provides mental performance coaching and education, including group training for teams, one-on-one coaching for individual athletes, and a library of content and education. We’re so proud of the community and culture we have built, helping athletes, parents, and coaches create better environments for athletes to perform their best on and off the field.

How’d you meet your business partner?
Dom was a professor at Trinity University when I was there and we clicked right away. He was an advisor for my first startup, More Than Baseball, which went onto form the Minor League Baseball Players Association. I loved his ideas and the way he thought about and explored complex problems. His background in education has been pivotal to the work we do here at MindReady and I simply don’t know where we would be without him.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Being open and empathetic. The work we do requires commitment to the education of young athletes and the decision makers of these organizations that have worked with us thus far believe in that. That is what I love most about what MindReady does. The work we do, and how we continue to build MindReady, is lasting and meaningful not only to our team but our coaches, our athletes, and their parents that also benefit from the education that we provide.
