We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jeremy Sanders a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jeremy , appreciate you joining us today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
Owning a business is definitely tough and not for the faint of heart! There’s been plenty of times when I’ve told myself it would be easier if I just got a regular 9-5! Between logistics (planning & scheduling), retaining dependable employees, accommodating my crew’s concerns so they’re satisfied, complaints, unhappy customers, claims, backend costs, keeping up to date equipment, and then of course juggling my personal life. All while trying to keep the overall morale in good space, is always a struggle. Moving is tough not only for our clients prospective, dealing with closing delays, switching environments with school and work, moving is very stressful! Even with the crews carrying, wrapping, and transporting furniture in various weather conditions, walking up inclines, going up and down multiple flights of stairs. Can be extremely physically and mentally draining. If it was easy work there wouldn’t be any need for movers, just being honest! The objective is make this process as simple and easy as possible for both parties. Just that alone is a constant battle. You have to be able to endure a lot of stress, be understanding of each individual’s needs, is definitely the biggest task! Overall transporting the furniture is one of the last steps to moving. Seeing the relief from your clients as they begin to enjoy their new home, the sense of accomplishment and pride that my crews have once the work is done, honestly is motivation enough! Oh and of course once the invoice is paid! True enough owning a business is not easy at all, but I think the biggest thing for all entrepreneurs to remember is What you are doing it for? What’s drives you to get up every morning go jump in the fire and do what you have to do for your business? What motivates you? What’s goals are you trying to accomplish? If you think that in prospective, anything is possible! To answer your question….yes I am very happy to be a business owner!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Sure! I am a relocation specialist, or to put simpler… I own a moving company! I got started back in 2017. At the time I worked for a moving company out of Alpharetta, and decided to start my own company from my experience there! Right now we service the south east region of the country. Georgia, Florida, Carolinas, Tennessee, Alabama, etc. We not only service residential clients, but also commercial, office spaces, etc! Moving is tough. My team and I are definitely dedicated to making your move easier! We are completely insured and bonded, so all of your belongings are covered. You can find us on social media platforms @ssmoveatl!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Before I got into the moving industry, I spent about 12 years in customer service and sales. The most valuable thing that I’ve learned from my previous industry, was to be solution driven with a smile on my face. Moving is tough, it’s stressful, time consuming, and overall I haven’t met anyone who enjoys to do it! Knowing this my approach has also been, the movers should not be adding stress but providing relief! Having a positive attitude, being accommodating to our clients and ultimately just have a willingness to help is something that I learned can make the moving process a lot more bearable. My crew and I pride ourselves on this!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
To make this simple. I come from very humble beginnings. I always wanted more for myself and my family. I don’t intend on stopping until that happens!
