We recently connected with Jeremy Johnson and have shared our conversation below.
Jeremy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
I chose to pen “Declaring War on Fear” following my enduring struggle with fear over the course of my life. As a creative individual, I’ve consistently embraced unconventional thinking and never quite felt like I belonged. This book is crafted with the intention of providing those grappling with fear the means to attain freedom and equip themselves with the necessary tools to lead a fearless existence.

Jeremy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My upbringing took place in Galt, California, and from early on, I harbored a dream of connecting with fellow dreamers. Feeling a distinct calling to the vibrant city of Los Angeles, California, I aspired to impact the influential. With my roles as a musical artist, clothing designer, writer, and a pastor driven by love for people, I sensed that Los Angeles was my destined place. Despite the challenges, I relocated with my family, even as my wife was eight months pregnant. Now, with three children, we cherish every moment of our life in this city.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Establishing a church in Downtown Los Angeles proved to be a formidable undertaking. Commencing with a mere 10 individuals, we navigated through more than 20 different nightclubs, facing numerous challenges along the way. Despite the difficulties, our determination to bring hope to the creative community in this city propelled us forward. In 2020, we finally secured our own building, reaffirming our commitment to persist in pursuing our God-given dreams and passions to impact and uplift the city.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I aspire for my music, clothing, and books to serve as sources of inspiration, encouraging individuals to embrace exactly who they are meant to be. Creatives often grapple with a sense of not fitting in, and that’s precisely the point—I believe we aren’t meant to conform. Those who don’t fit in are the seekers, the ones who explore. It’s within this realm of non-conformity that creativity is born. My objective is to channel my own creativity to inspire fellow creatives, reminding them that their unique gifts, bestowed by God, have the power to bring hope to others through their artistic endeavors.
