Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jeremy Jimenez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jeremy , appreciate you joining us today. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
The first dollar I made as a creative is something that still motivates me to this day. In the Summer of 2021, one of my friends came to me about making a dress made out of polaroid pictures. at first I was unsure then, but the creative side in me made me take on the challenge. The dress was inspired by a photo shoot that was done by Saweetie where she wore a polaroid dress. The process of making the dress was definitely a process but we had so much fun creating it. the first step was ordering the materials and tools needed for the dress. Next, my friend Iesha and I got together to take pictures of the dress. This was probably the most fun part of this project. We were just freestyling and having fun with each picture we took. Iesha definitely showed off her personality through the pictures. After we took the pictures, I started to put the dress together with the materials. This part was most tedious because of the various changes and adjustments we had to make. Once the dress was finally made and the perfect fit. We picked a day for a photoshoot and we went to Philadelphia to shoot the finished product. Watching my friend during the photoshoot really made me happy because it was something that was challenging, made me step outside of my comfort zone, and took Memoriesbyjerm to the next level.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello, my name is Jeremy Jimenez, I’m 23 years old and from Baltimore, Maryland. I’m a Model, a unisex stylist photographer, and a creative director that has plans to be so much more.
My start in the fashion industry and as a creative started in college, 5 years ago. I started modeling at Morgan State University mainly to step outside of my shell, help boost my self-esteem and boost my confidence. It did so much more for me, I’ve made so many connections, friends landed opportunities, and boosted my sense of my style as well. My new goals with modeling are turning it into a career and giving motivation and inspiration to aspiring plus-size models.
My love for modeling grew into styling over time. During the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic, My styling journey started when the country was on lockdown and outdoor activities were not allowed. I was making outfits but I couldn’t wear them out. The more I kept making outfits and looks, the more started to develop a passion for styling. By the time things started to open up, I started styling my friends and family. I officially added stylist to my list of talents when I styled my first photoshoot and received my first payment from styling a client. What sets me apart from other other stylists is that I try to challenge the client use as many looks with the clothes the client already has in their wardrobe before having to get new pieces. This forces the client to be more creative and think outside of the box with their wardrobe when coming up with their next outfits and looks.
Modeling and styling eventually opened the door for creative directing. This expanded my creativity and my desire for coming with my own concepts for photoshoots and productions. With creative direction , I get to put my own style, creativity, and imagination into a project. Recently I’ve been incorporating my other talents into the productions I’ve creative directed, whether it being my modeling, styling , Memoriesbyjerm, or involving all three.
Memoriesbyjerm is my photography venture that is circled around instant photography. The camera I use is a instant camera similar to a polaroid that prints out the picture once taken. This picture captures the moment and creates a nostalgic feeling for the customer. This is why I named by venture Memoriesbyjerm, because I am creating memories for people in the moment.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my audience on social media based on the communities I’m around. For example: my social media presence is based around the college I attended (Morgan State University), the fashion industry, photography , other creatives in the area , friends and family.
the best advice I give I can give when starting to build social media presence is to be consistent and authentic with your content
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect is of being an artist or creative is that you can be compensated very well for your work and can see your vision come to life in what ever aspect you are involved.
