Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jeremy Jaeger. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jeremy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had started sooner?
You know as a creative you hear all the time how people think the younger people have more of a chance to “become” something. But when I think about it, if I had became “something” at, let’s say 21, Im not sure I would’ve had the strength to last. The person I am today is more intuitive with who he is now more than ever. The things i’ve gone through, the lessons i’ve learned, have molded me into exactly who I feel I needed to be, not just for me, but for anyone else I touch with my art.The stories I can tell now also come from wisdom that the younger me would not have had. Being therapized, becoming more centered and grounded allowed me to look back at my younger self and see he may have had been more flashy than the me of today, but all light bulbs have an end. I feel now I have fire that wont burn out as quickly or at all. If I could go back in time, the only thing I would tell myself, is that someday it’s all going to matter, just be patient, because you are becoming.
Jeremy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Ive always been told I have a photographic memory, which has helped me in many cases. From dance, to music, to art, to photography, the way I envision things may be more peculiar but it is what has set me apart. Fitting in was never my thing, like at all, even in high school, I knew everyone, but I didn’t need to be everyone. I now try to instill that in clients I work with who aren’t as comfortable with themselves. Being a creative and producing videography and photography I believe in capturing the essence of a person…even if they don’t know its there. I believe we all have a light, some dimmer than others, but we all have a light. It’s just about how you shine. Each time I work on a project wether a music video, a movie, or a photoshoot, it’s all about a celebration, celebrating the individual . I never like to have a set where people fear me, or I try to be bigger than what I am, I believe we are truly all equal, especially in God’s eyes.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Be more open! Allow a safe space for all. Ive been building my studio for the past two years to create exactly that. I think even the people i’ve surrounded myself with, most of us have suffered some kind of damage before. Wether it be physical or emotional, we’ve all walked through some kind of fire. I believe in being personable and vulnerable, because many of us truly share the same stories. As long as there is no malice involved, letting a creative be exactly who they are is the most refreshing thing. Speaking for myself, growing up, I was always told what I should do but never asked what I wanted to do. If you have a child who believes in the arts, let them shine! If they are bringing joy into this world nothing should eclipse that.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The end result mostly. I love the chemistry of it all as well. Something about letting everything brew in a pot and getting the most rewarding meal from that. I always make sure to ask everyone for their ideas, not because I cant come up with any, but because if you are here in front of me, there must be something on your mind. There may be something you can add to the beauty we are creating. The process is gradual but in the end you must stand behind your achievement .
