We recently connected with Jeremy Evans and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeremy, thanks for joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
Honestly, I learned majority of my podcast and interview-skills from speech class. Had I known I would have been a podcaster in my college days, I would have taken a telecommunications course as well. The most essential skill is active listening, engagement involves two roles, listening and responding. The key is learning where and when to interject. The only obstacle I’ve encountered has been my self-doubt.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I became a podcaster due to a lack of coverage of black communities in local media. I’m proud to have been a podcast in service of well over 100 businesses and entrepreneurs in Mobile. I believe we have the tools necessary to drive our dreams be of service to one another.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Saving may not seem feasible to many. I say where there is a will, there is a way. Small seeds sown today will eventually bare fruit.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
We’ve drawn our audience by consistent engagement, Don’t just “like’ a comment on your video/blog post. Ask questions, share to groups, use hashtags. Make sure people expound on their viewpoints and invite others to join in the conversation.
