We recently connected with Jeremy Doneghy-Horrington and have shared our conversation below.
Jeremy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The story behind my mission is simply be yourself, and do what you love to do. We all have to generate money to survive in this system we are living in. I’m just trying to be the example to people of all ages you can find a way to do something you love and to do it on your own terms. You just have to be willing to make monetary sacrifices here and there , some months may be tough, especially if you have a family to support. But if you communicate with your family/ team you can accomplish so much together.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi everyone I’m Jeremy and I’m a multimedia artist in the Metro Detroit area who mixes his passions for music, video and photos into one cohesive multimedia experience. As an art director, vocalist, and designer, my work evokes powerful emotions like love, rage, sadness, and empathy.
As an artist and entrepreneur, I have made projects for Shady Records , Def Jam , CW network , Sony music and many others. These projects included music videos, photography, filming interviews and creating overall concepts and aesthetics for artist and businesses. After such experiences I developed a way to blend my passions, with the creation of AV CLUB.
I create multi-media experiences for businesses. Similar to the way I create art for myself. I am very selective of my clients and only work with clients I feel I could genuinely represent their product well. I feel business should just feel good, and should always have good vibes, a good flow you know.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
There’s plenty pivots in life, and even more in business. I remember back in 2019 I decided I didn’t really love what I was doing , I felt it needed to change so I changed my approach to things. I stopped taking client work that didn’t really fit me as an artist. Business slowed for a while , but in that time I focused on my own art. It really gave me the opportunity to level up, and figure myself out. Which led me to creating Av Club (my multi media design company), and through the success of my recent arts I’ve been able to select the clients and the work that fits me and that I enjoy most.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A big lesson I had to learn in business is never treat any opportunity as a favor, if you discount something for a client or do something pro bono , make sure you handle it the same as your highest paying clients work. Basically never take on anything you don’t play on making your own.
