We were lucky to catch up with Jeremie Zizi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jeremie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
Some problems I’ve experienced on my journey as a creative/model would be lack of communication, false promises/being lied to, bad time management on others, and being delayed in payment.
A situation where I’ve experienced majority, if not all of the problems that I’ve just listed actually happened recently. A company that I’m working with (first company I’ve ever worked with) had me on the run around at first. The communication at first was really iffy. I didn’t get proper communication at all about when the payment would be distributed. That lack of communication than lead to the false promises and in a way being lied to. The company told me false promises by telling me I would have the payment on a specific day and didn’t even reach out until days later AFTER I’ve reached out. Once I got in contact with them, that’s when the lies started to come. I was told that the person who runs all of the finances had COVID at the time, Shortly after that, I than was told she was pregnant and out on vacation and that it was nothing they could do until she came back. In order for me to gain respect, and resolve the issue, I had to respectfully confront the person who brought me aboard. I basically said that if I didn’t have my payment by a certain date than I would no longer be working with the company and insinuated that the companies name could potentially be tarnished. The same company also showed me bad time management by calling me with less than 2 and a half hours to spare and saying that they needed me within the next 2-3 hours. That show cases bad time management because things like that are supposed to be discussed days to weeks prior.
That was one of the unexpected issues I’ve dealt with and that’s a process I hope I don’t have to go through again, but at the same time potentially expect to in the future with other companies just with that company being my first impression.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Jeremie and I am 22 years old. I first got introduced to modeling when I was 20 but didn’t really know it was a passion until recently.
l got into modeling through some friends. They told me they were working with an Agency and traveling for free. I was for sure interested because that’s something that would briefly cross my mind from time to time but I never knew how to get started. I told them to set up a meeting with the Agency director for me and that is where the start of my modeling career began.
As of right now, the services I provide as a model is quality work, along with being versatile with my modeling career. When I say versatile I’m not only talking about behind the camera, I’m also talking about the kinds of modeling I can offer like: Print/Runway/Part/Fitness/
What sets me apart from other models is my passion for modeling and like I said earlier, my versatility with my image that I can bring to modeling. Not only can I do different types of modeling, another thing I would really say that sets me apart from others is my personality. I personally think I have a personality where people not only gravitate towards me but are extremely comfortable around me.
I’m most proud of my work ethic. I’m not a model that’s sitting around waiting for things to get handed to me. I’ve been a great agent to myself by doing things like behind the scenes work, going to casting calls, sending emails out, walking in fashion shows, working with companies etc. I also am proud of how much confidence I have wherever I am. I always walk in with a good attitude and positive energy. I started to take the “maybe” and the “hope so’s” out of my vocabulary and started incorporating “I will”.
If it was something I wanted others to know about me and my brand, it would be that my brand is always going to be based off of respect and humility. I never will make somebody feel like less than because of what I’m doing.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect to being a creative is watching my own growth at something I love doing.
As a model, I’ve seen growth in all different areas. A couple areas of growth I’ve seen in my self would be my confidence, my craft, my networking, and my support. Those are some examples of growth that tend to be the most rewarding things to me in this process.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
A goal driving my creative journey besides the love for it would be me proving to myself, as well as friends and family that college isn’t the only way to be successful. Society almost looks down upon people who didn’t finish college just because it makes them feel better. I had to unlearn to care what people thought a couple years back. Even though I don’t care about opinions to much, that’s just always been something I wanted to prove to me first, then others after.
