We were lucky to catch up with Jeremiah Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Jeremiah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?

In the world of selling music, the Compact Disk has seen its day come and go. I believe people will still buy them from an artist as a show of support, but the digital world has taken the lead. Besides the fact that you don’t even see CD players in cars anymore, downloads and streaming is the now and the future.

I plan on trying to change the way I have been operating and start releasing singles and then later releasing a full-length CD. Trying to stay relevant in todays’ world is not easy and people want to see something new more often.

In fact, I have started building my own studio and should have the first three singles done in a few weeks.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

When I was in high school, I had a heavy rock band that had some nice traction in the midwestern US. After two CD,s I started to notice the popular trends in music seemed to change quickly. Then I saw a local blues man in his 70’s playing at a club. He walked slow and sat on a chair. When he started playing, he blew the roof off the place. I remember leaving that show thinking I could play a blues style music and perform well into old age. Ever since, I have been working in that general direction. That was nearly 30 years ago.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

I have picked up and moved to Houston TX to pursue music, in my 20’s. That’s when I decided to give this thing a shot.
