We recently connected with Jeremiah Collie and have shared our conversation below.

Jeremiah, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?

One of my first ever solo projects was a EP titled, “Love Stories”. I am a sucker for good storytelling through lyrics and I wanted to emulate that sort of writing through this project. I wanted a modern take of what love is for the current generation. Whether the topic falls around late night conversation over the phone or fighting with the feeling of telling someone you like them. We all have gone through these things at some point. I wanted to match each song with a genre that I felt best fit. For example, trust issues is a country ballad about someone struggling with the feelings of liking someone new and being afraid that they might get hurt again. Conveying a message or story is really important to me and this was my first project doing so I had all the nervous feelings going into it. The reason for this project being meaningful to me is because of the time and effort that went into it. At the time of release, some of these songs had been in the works for about 2-3 years. I was scared about the project not being perfect or least good enough. I think every creative person can relate to the drawn out feeling of working on something to the point where its tiresome. I love every single song on this project and it will always have a place in my heart and hopefully it sits in the hearts of those who have heard it.

Hello fellow human! My name is Jeremiah Collie. My artist name is Miah! Some of my talents include singing, writing(both songs and scripts), acting, music production, and sometimes editing. What sets me apart from other artist is the vulnerability displayed through my music. I am not one to limit myself to one genre. One moment I am singing in a country pop song to blowing out my lungs on a rap track. I like to experiment with my sound and try new things. I am most proud of the work that I have done. Not only for my music but when I am working on sets of music videos, movies, or television shows. Anything that involves me must be top notch. I do not settle mediocre. My brand is all about making the person feel any emotion. Whether that emotion is happiness through laughter or reminiscing about past memories. I like for my music/videos to provoke some sort of feeling to the audience. It is a job well done if you feel any type of way towards anything I create. I just hope it is a good feeling.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

One word: reaction. Everyone has a different motive for why they are an artist or a creative. One of my motives for being an artist is the reactions of the people. I get such a euphoric feeling from hearing someone tell me about their favorite song or lyric that I created or they saw me acting in a video. Knowing that any person out there at any given time is enjoying the stuff that I have been apart of bring me such joy. Its a certain happiness that I can not explain but it feels good in the moment and carries over into whatever I am working on next.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?

Creating something is just as hard as promoting whatever you create. Whether it is a song, a business, or a video. Coming up with the idea could come easy but bringing that idea to life is the hard part. On top of that, most creatives struggle with the feeling of what everyone else thinks. You could have great idea at your fingertips but the moment you think that its not good. It gets tossed out the window. Identity is something that we all struggle with and being a creative does not help at all.
