We recently connected with Jeramie Chittick and have shared our conversation below.
Jeramie , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your career and how did you resolve those issues?
As a tattooer your living is only as good as your clientele allows. Without a solid base of clients in the tattoo industry you are basically working from the reach of whatever studio you are in. Having moved to Austin and not having a client list of locals I am currently working to rebuild back to what I had in Indianapolis . Relocating I knew would be like hitting the reset button and would put me back in the position of being a relative unknown. I was selective and found a studio that not only supports me as I build back my client list but helps promote me . Only time will tell but so far it seems to be succeeding.

Jeramie , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have been tattooing since 2002/2003 . Extremely versatile stylistically but I am making a push to focus on larger scale singular focus surreal color work. It’s a mouthful but I like large graphic imagery that’s fits and flows on the body. I take my work very seriously but like to keep it in a fun more relaxed atmosphere. Large work is a commitment for myself and the client both monetarily and time wise. I will be releasing some concept imagery soon that I would really like to find the right client for.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I am a very analog person when it comes to art and tattoo development but I wish I had gotten on the procreate bandwagon a little sooner. I still doi final rendering of images on paper but procreate jumps me to that point much sooner.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Trying to apply the Japanese tradition flow and feel to more contemporary and more American / North America imagery and folklore.
