We were lucky to catch up with Jenya Reynolds recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jenya thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The story behind my mission is one of profound transformation. Through the grace and strength of God, I was able to overcome immense adversity and trauma. There were moments when I struggled with suicidal thoughts and lost all hope and faith. But in my darkest hour, I experienced a radical encounter with Jesus, who loved me back to life, healed me, and set me free.
Now, my mission is to share the love of Christ with everyone I meet. I aim to give hope to the hopeless and be a light for those in dark places. My calling is especially toward those who are broken, particularly battered women and children, and those who have a voice but haven’t yet found the strength to use it.
This mission is deeply meaningful to me because it stems from my own journey. Everything I’ve been through has prepared me to pour back into the lives of others who are facing similar struggles. It is through this mission that I find purpose, knowing that God has given me the grace to help others find healing and hope.
Jenya, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Jen’ya Reynolds, and I am a devoted single mother to my beautiful daughter, Kemora. My life is deeply rooted in my love for Jesus, and I strive to serve Him in every aspect of my life.
I am a serial entrepreneur, running a herbal tea business called Yahweh Rapha Tea Co., which means “The Lord Who Heals.” Additionally, I am a full-spectrum doula with my business, Birthing Promises. I am also excited to soon be an author of my first book, “Restore: From Trauma to Triumph.” Besides my entrepreneurial ventures, I work full-time as a case manager, supporting men and women recovering from homelessness and drug addiction.
In my free time, I love spending time at the park or going on walks with my daughter and our dog, Cookie. I find strength and solace in studying the word of God, which is a vital part of my daily routine. Mentoring women who are facing tough times, especially single mothers, is a passion of mine. I have a heart for humanity and seize every opportunity to give back. Whether it’s feeding the homeless or simply letting them know they are valued and loved, I am committed to making a positive impact wherever I can.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In October 2023, after separating from my husband, I lost everything. My daughter and I found ourselves in a homeless shelter, living paycheck to paycheck. We relied heavily on the generosity of friends and coworkers, often living meal to meal. Many nights, I would go without dinner just to ensure my daughter had enough to eat. Despite these challenges, I continued to show up to work every day with a smile, serving women in need even though I had many needs myself.
Through perseverance and faith, my daughter and I have since secured a one-bedroom apartment and have started to rebuild our lives. I am deeply grateful to God for helping us recover from such a difficult time.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The most profound lesson I’ve learned is to trust God wholeheartedly, regardless of how dire my circumstances appeared. There were countless days when I had to surrender all my cares and worries to Him, believing with all my heart that He would provide for each of my needs. This journey required me to cultivate an unwavering faith, even when the future seemed uncertain.
Additionally, I had to learn the importance of letting go of anything that hindered me from becoming the person God intended me to be. This meant releasing fear, doubt, and any negative influences that held me back. Through this process, I discovered the freedom and peace that come from trusting in God’s plan and timing.
Another impactful lesson I’ve learned revolves around my upcoming book, “Restored: From Trauma to Triumph,” and the journey of finding the right team to bring it to life. For years, I sought help, reaching out to other authors for support. However, I often encountered gatekeepers who were unwilling to share their resources. It was not until I let go of my own reservations and prayed for guidance from God that my path became clear.
That’s when E4C Publishing came into the picture. Finding Patricia Baker and her amazing team at E4C was a game-changer. They helped me refine and polish my book, transforming my vision into reality. I am thrilled to announce that “Restored: From Trauma to Triumph” will be released in February 2025, a milestone that I achieved with faith and perseverance in God.
I hope this resonates with you, reminding you that no matter what challenges you face, there is power in surrendering your worries and trusting in a higher purpose. Letting go of what holds you back can open doors to becoming the best version of yourself, fully aligned with the path meant for you.
