We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jenny Rainey a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jenny, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Ladies of Alpha and Omega Inc was birth from a broken place. In my broken place, I learned that I was not the product of what has happened to me or the bad decisions I made but I was a child of the king. The more I learned about the love God had for me the more I transformed into what he wanted for me. I had a mentor who encouraged me in ways I never image. I honestly started LAO because I saw a need to help young ladies understand that there is life in Christ but teach it in a practical way so they can get it. As young women, we have the potential to be game changers and when a women knows her potential she becomes unstoppable. When I started this project it was simply a passion. As I begin to do my research I learned that 39% of females in the United States have dealt with very similar traumas and the thing that I thought was “normal” was called Adverse Childhood experiences and the long-term effects were quite alarming. This is when I knew my idea was more than a hobby it was purposeful. Our facilitators use a storytelling approach to create a sense of belonging. As humans we are created to connect with others. Our hopes is when our mentees hear other’s stories it will provoke Hope and ability to endure their own challenges. Our facilitators stand on Revelations 12:11 “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…”

For folks who may not have read about you before, can you please tell our readers about yourself, how you got into your industry / business / discipline / craft etc, what type of products/services/creative works you provide, what problems you solve for your clients and/or what you think sets you apart from others. What are you most proud of and what are the main things you want potential clients/followers/fans to know about you/your brand/your work/ etc.
Please provide as much detail as you feel relevant as this is one of the core questions where the reader will get to know about you and your brand/organization/etc.
My name is Jenny Rainey, the founder of Ladies of Alpha and Omega Inc. It is a mentorship program for girls that are in 6th-12th grades. Our 8 month journey of self reflection consist of confidence building, leadership skills and character development that is designed to counter the sometimes destructive effects of Adverse Childhood Experience (A.C.E.). Our sessions include interactive team building, art therapeutic techniques, real talk sessions and so much more. Our mission is to build H.O.P.E (Heart of Service, Obedience, Perseverance, and Empower) in our young ladies who have experienced some form of A.C.Es. I have come to understand that trauma has a sound and while our young ladies are developing, they may have a difficult time in identifying with trauma and could possibly fall into unhealthy behavior patterns. We believe that with Jesus and proper guidance work and with every session we present the scripture in a practical way.
I am most proud of the girls growing and blossoming into someone they never thought they could become.
As a result of this program 23% of our mentees are young entrepreneurs, 100% have transition to post secondary, or military. 100% have has publicly made a confession to follow Christ and a desire to learn more of his ways.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe being a product of the population that I serve has helped me build trust with both my mentees and parents. Growing up in what I considered a very “normal life” was later revealed to me as ACE’s (Adverse Childhood Experience). As I began to study I learned that what our young people need is hope to live for tomorrow and to understand that today is a not their final destination. My program is youth focused and I clearly remember being an angry teenager. I did not understand how to articulate myself and as a result my behaviors and choices lead me to a dangerous path. Now that I have found HOPE through faith I choose to share it with the world.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Being an entrepreneur is no easy task and owning a non-profit is definitely in a lane of its own. I’ve been in business for 5 years and in one year I advertised and promoted for the upcoming cohort and only one girl show interest. I remember telling myself I will give her the same experience I would give 50 girls. My thoughts have always been it’s not about the numbers but the impact. I had an opportunity to test my confession and it was an amazing year. My cohort numbers have continuously grown since then and I believe that particular young lady truly enjoyed her tailored made experience.
